    • Wll i tried a friends FZ today, after riding RTR for some long period i came to some good conclusion about this bike

      1. First its vibes free (which is enough in RTR)
      2. I used to think that the low end torque is not that good, but i was wrong, it was really good till 85 mark
      3. Handling is superb, specially for the rear tyre, it was like very much planted to earth.
      4. Last but not the least, the looks, i was feeling like riding a big machine, and of course people were starring.

Hello Anjit...could you tell us wats exhaust UT?

Yesterday I was bored at home after adding some colours to my tank cover...lied down on the bed and read the manual...I came across this Throttle Free Play...I was wondering if we minimise the throttle free play to get more power concentration on the throttle (meaning with lesser twisting of my wrist, the throttle woud respond better, which means more concentration of power in the throttle)... so I experimented with the throttle free play and then adusted the rpm.... started the bike and felt a bit of difference, though I needed to tuned the engine rpm properly in the YMIS. Later in the evening when I started on the practice for wheelie... damn the response was better... The bike lifted more easily after the adjustment was done as compared to what I had previously done...

Dont know if any of you guys have tried experimenting with the "Throttle Free Play"... and if you did it, please do give feedback to this particular post.

@leadpb: Well I haven't much checked my mileage...
Maybe in the plains mileage will be high...but on Hilstation roads with traffic, m sure it will be much lesser as compared to the plains....
Most probably this coming next Week by 17th Friday, will be going for about 1000kms trip for about a week, for work-cum-ride-cum-short touring...around the state...so will get back to this mileage info and let you know... Just hoping the Weather (usually its time for rainy season), the "Monster" (FZ) and the "MILLITANT outfits" won't be troubling us along the way........ hmmmm should I be carring a WaterGun with some booze on it for them?...hehehhehe

some FZ owners are testing KPL soon after the bike is delivered. while the bike is in running-in period, the fuel settings are set to Rich, as the new engine generates lot of heat, the engine cools with fresh rich air fuel mix entering into it. the manufacturer sets the carb to rich settings. we cant get the correct KPL during this period, and this shouldn't be altered (setting to lean air fuel mix) until 1000 KM, as the engine suffers permanent damage thus decreasing the engine life. if u want to squeeze some extra kms per liter, adjust the pilot air screw to lean settings after 1000 KM. so leave the bike alone at least up to the end of running-in period ........then think about increasing or testing the KPL / mileage

I was wondering the same thing, and thought the same, and this applies to all bikes, I don't have an FZ but I do have an apache and while checking its mileage during run in it fluctuates a lot in city and highway.City figures are'nt that great (40-42) but what frankpilli said is true I guess.

              • guys seriously... give this whole KPL a rest.. none of us bought it because we were worried about the rise in Fuel prices..

if you note something really fishy that you need help or need to inform the other FZ owners then so be it. but really cut the crap... makes some of us bikers go visit other forums to network.

you are right buddy, i got the pilot screw adjusted after 1500 kms, this is the major reason behind getting 50+ all time

                  @Devilboy
after some 100 kms you will know whats the difference,
i did it very earlier and AFAIR posted the experience too,
                  do post your experience

Hmm...well I have checked mileage in both plains and the twisties. No where I got more.. 38 is what I get on an average. But as someone said earlier...lets give the topic a rest. I am pretty much OK with the bike. The handling is amazing and power is decent.
Doing the twisties gives a real high.. I did that in my last trip to Wayanad (Kerala)...with some real good roads and sensible traffic....and some footpeg scrapping curves !!

hello Anjit, which difference you are talking about....can you please be specific...cos my previous post has different topics...are you talking about the "Throttle Free Play"? or is it the mileage?

Well m not so concern about the mileage...cos this will depend on our riding style, location (hilly regions or plains) and other criterias.

Guys, have you noticed the alloy foot rest are too fragile? It breaks off easily at the joints yaar! The bike has fallen Four times already while practicing stunts of different kinds under me and my younger brother's hands. And everytime it breaks, it is broken from the same spot exactly. Perhaps they are of lighter alloy material and hence breaks off easily. Any idea of other company's foot rest which can replace the FZ foot rest? Tried using the bajaj pulsar but requires modification as its a bit small. Any other idea in mind?

Regarding signal lights: well just wanted to share this info regarding signal lights. Yesterday i took off (disconnected the signal lights wires) the signal lights of the left side from the front. I observed one thing, and that the rear signal light at the left blinks at a very fast rate...At first I thought it was due to the minor accident, but later when I connected the front-left signal light it blinked normally again....
So dont get worried if you happen to find yourself in this scenario...just check the other signal lamp for confirmation...

                          Enjoy and safe riding.

the signal light thingy happens with every bike, if one of the bulb is fused or disconnected
