Hi All,
had a little incident last night.. i was riding my way back from work to home somewhere around 2 am in the range of 40 - 50 kmph. A moron in an innova suddenly overtook me and then jammed the brakes as expected.. pedestrian jumped from the divider to run to the other side... i had very little time to react so jammed my brakes but the distance was too little for the bike to stop... i rear ended the innova somewhere around 15-20 kmph and dropped the bike... The moron fearing, he had killed someone ran away with his car. Lucky for me i was wearing my full gear and nothing happened to me as the speed at which the impact took place was very less!! And to my surprise the bike was also completely fine had no scratches nothing. The only thing that took the hit was the front mud guard, a small plastic portion got chipped away. I will replace the whole front mud guard in the next service... i believe it should be somewhere under 500 bucks Got the bike tested today for any alignment problems or any major damages that i may not have noticed.. but she is absolutely fine.. my major worry was that since the impact was frontal.. i might have to cough up for a bent front rim.. but she is alright!! my only regret is that the front mud guard won't be stock anymore i will have to go for a replacement.

I had an incident today as well, after getting my fazer's service done. Previously at first service I had the mechanic set the headlights turn on both lights simultaneously in high as well as low beam, I was returning home and had my high beam on. Far away there was a truck coming towards me. That guy had only his low beam on. He did not signal me in any way, so i kept my high beam on and was going ahead. After a while it seemed like he was overtaking some vehicle but he was not and I realized that he was deliberately coming on to me when I tried to signal him that he was blocking the path. That guy was coming so fast for a moment I was worried. Since there was no vehicle he was overtaking and he was doing it deliberately, I stopped the bike in the side of the road with the lights onquickly. When the guy came to a halt and seemed confused. He noticed me and was about to say something and I stopped him and asked why he was coming so dangerously, his reply was that he was irritated by the high beam so he did that. I argued with him a while and asked if he had a problem with the beam he could always signal and why he did not do that. He was saying that his high beam was not working. Then I asked why not he switch off and the light for the signal, then he became confused. Meanwhile a traffic police came and he took care of the situation as this guy was dumb as hell. Though I was afraid of losing my ride for a moment, I had a fun time with this guy. I realized both lights on at a time are more than enough for me because i was thinking of HID's previously and now I have dropped the thought of it. +1 for kinshuk.arya's reply
really i do the same thing with ppl who ride or drive with High beam....put ma light on high beam (HID) n go head on if they don lower.....i mean how inconsiderate n stupid can ppl be to ride on high beam with-in city limits and supremely arrogant n senseless not to switch it to lower beam wen they see a vehicle come from opposite side. O n believe me.....truckers are the most sane ppl out oh highways.....i have done many long distance journeys during night time n have found them to be highly considerate n well mannered....if i gave a pass light flash they would put out their hand n signal me to overtake and at times also make way by changing their lanes (HID is so bright is gives the impression a car is coming) |

thanks for the message but seriously bro... just because you are dealing with a moron doesnot necessarily mean that you have turn into one... flash it once or twice.. if they don't then just keep your beam low... otherwise you are actually risking your own life and others too.. in my case i had no choice but to do in an blink of an eye... i cannot even say that i was doing 70+ kmph and then this happened!! but regardless road is risk coz you are along with 100s of people some of who are good and some who don't know anything.. so its always advisable to be correct on your side atleast.. and trust me riding gear is a must.. even at slow speed hits like in my case one can get hurt severely.. all in good faith cheers |

To be really honest (but how can we be really honest about our much loved bikes!), the difference - if any! - between the previous drum brake and this one is....minimal! It's just that I liked it, and where is there a superbike with aft drum brake??? However, this feeling may change in favor of the disc as we plan, with some friends, a tour that will take us along some very windy mountain road, and we are not shy of speeding up and braking late. This is where the better ventilation of the disc brakes will surely come handy. I already feel them quite hot after some riding in suburds, where I have to brake often, I think they will smoke on this trip ![]() PS: TO ALL: the way I like to post pictures (link to photobucket) has the "advantage" for viewers of making them appear in full size immediately, but in order to makes pages open faster for those who may have a not-so-fast connection, one should erase the [IMG] etc... when quoting a post that has images attached this way instead of repeating them sometimes uselessly. At minimum: just need to delete one single letter of the string to have the pictures not appearing anymore.

If he can't have these parts without buying them, I shall post clear drawings of what has been done and detail description of the works. Your mechanics in India will certainly be able to get similar parts. The possibility to get (in small Vietnam) the specially made conversion piece that had been fitted in the drum really did surprise me, though! BTW, Iceman ("top gun", hey ): In the other hand, I would like to know more aobut your HID setup

Reacting to idiots is the worst way to handle the situation ... Risking your life is definitely not worth it ... I had this experience quite a number of times and truckers are very considerate with that , the minute you flash they dim their lights ... It's only general road users that don't understand this ...
My incident : A Mahindra Scorpio had its high beam on and I flashed at the SUV to dim the light and hey ! , she flashed back at me ( for what I don't know ) ... I tried again and this time no reaction , the high beam was still in my face ... I slowed down enough as my visibility was low and as the SUV passed I gestured using the "finger" ( you know which one , ofcourse ) , I saw the driver was a girl and she was like ... I felt ...
