If you want higher speed and better drag times (avoid doing it on streets please!!) then the ideal tire pressure is 29 front and rear 35 psi. But the ride definitely becomes bumpy.

I feel it is just an initial notion about getting too much jerks... run it for a few more 100 kms if you still feel that the problem is there then get it checked from a service center.

Make sure that you do lot of gear braking and deceleration roll down to ensure the engine breaks in properly.

About the carb tuning issue faced by Vishwas & others, here's a small simple DIY
ZMA Higher Altitude Issue - Solution

I can do it myself if the need be (will learn to open the carb & access main jets from my mech) but i'll rather let the experienced mechanics in such regions to take care of this issue right from as soon as manali. I'm also considering using a custom free flow air filter rather than removing air filter altogether as most people do there. Lets see how that goes.
    Hey Mitz,

If i am not wrong.. Michelin Sirac is not a Tubeless tire and the same may be the case with the TVS. However, on other forums, people have installed it without the tube and the tire doesn't leak any air till it hits 17k+ kms. i think bcm touring has a thread dedicated for michelin a simple google search should help.

MRF Zapper Q has 140-70/17... though not off-roading tire, looks like made of tougher rubber compound.

There is this one more brand Super-King tires:http://www.superking-tyre.com/two-wheeler-tyres.html but i have never heard of them before. May be you can check it out.

Thanks brother for the reply. Will wait for some more KMS to be completed to see where i stand regarding my problems. Hopefully they dont come in the long run.

Also, Make sure that you do lot of gear braking and deceleration roll down to ensure the engine breaks in properly. What does this mean?? can you please explain.

Hi I presume, that you have still not finished your bike's initial 1000 kms run-in yet i.e. keeping the engine rev below 4500 rpm. To ensure that the break-in happens properly, when you are decelerating towards say a signal or want to do a stop, shift from say 5th gear to 4th and so on, your engine will act as a brake, slowing down the bike and also in the process will help breaking in the engine better.

When you are riding also shift gears constantly putting various load on the bike's engine. You may not get good mileage during this first run-in period and also the gear box may feel a bit clunky/ neutral would be hard to come by. But post 1st service your bike will become smoother and by that time brakes, engine & tires would have had done a decent amount of kms to provide you optimum performance.

If you learn the art of gear braking to decelerate, your bike's stock brakes will last you quite a lot of kms. I am closing 18k and both the front and rear are still in good shape and will easily cross 20k+ till they need any replacement.

    Cheers,

Already called up quite a few dealers & have been quoted well for several tyres. I'll have to find some time to visit some of the most prominent tyre shops that I've contacted & see personally what they have to offer.

    Best Regards,
Didn't knew M-Siracs are tube tyres.. Confirmed it from a dealer who has Sirac & he assured 120-17 shall fit well with FZ, they've done it.

Superking looks good, will have to dig in the details & reviews if any. Co-incidentally just met a FZ owner yesterday who had a different looking tyre then stock. I inquired & got to know it is King's tyre. I presume this must be the same brand. Though the thread pattern was no way Off-road pattern, the owner assured me the rear tyre had excellent grip in Rajmachi last season. He had used that tyre for over a year now & still the tyre looked sturdy enough with deep threads. (It definitely was a hard compound tyre)
The owner was in rush so didn't enquire where in mumbai to buy/ what it costs, but i have his contact no. so will get back to him.

Meanwhile i found three other tyres too.
    1) Duro BMX tyres. True offroading. Excellent performance as per the review of owner 'Aryan' who too it to Leh last year on his Fazer. Check the tyre pics in SachinNair's leh thread.
    2) Ceat (forgot the name)
    3) Continental Go (hard compound, cheaper, though no good reviews for the same.)

So now a potentially wider manufacturer base to choose from for any Yamaha FZ16/FZ-s/Fazer owners out there i.e

    1) MRF stocks
    2) Michelin sirac
    3) Pirelli SD
    4) Dunlop TG
    5) TVS EG Pancer
    6) CEAT
    7) Superking
    8) Duro bmx tyres
    9) Contigo

(No assumptions/guesses - All the above can be used/are being used with FZ, although current availability may be an issue)

PS: I wish i knew one more to make a list of 10 options
    • Why do I ride ??
Because Cricket, football, basketball, Tennis etc require just ONE BALL ;)

Duro BMX.. looks quite nice and i have gone through Sachin Nair's thread as well.

However, i am leaning more towards Michelin Sirac as it is tried and tested by hard core riders on xbhp, bcm and other sites as well. Being hard compound, it should last more than 20-25k kms. Please do get it confirmed about whether it is a tubeless or a tubed tyre. Though by default since, FZ has Alloy wheel rims supporting Tubeless, i don't think it will be a problem installing it without a tube. I guess the tire seller will be your best friend in this regard. You don't have to change the front ones unless they don't have any more grip left.

I would highly recommend either putting tire Slime (Available at Kamla Yamaha SVC, Lower Parel) or Ride On TPS (Available at Churchgate, Mumbai) which will provide add on protection against puncture.

    Cheers

    Bro,

i suggest a simple search on justdial will give a list of vendors all across Mumbai and around. That is the easiest way to connect to these vendors by phone and figure out if they have it in stock or not.

I suggest a visit to an SVC center should help... Get the Carburetor AFR checked, spark plug cleaned, Air Filter cleaned and the Engine idling speed checked.

    Cheers

Thanks brother for helping me out. I use to usually brake and lower the gears thinking that if i lower and brake it might affect the engine. But it is opposite Will do the other way now

My first service has been done on 3rd March only. Till date it has done 820KMS only
