Thumbs up Life with FZ-16

Hello Guys...

Today, I will post U about my Love-Life with FZ. I suggest the owners FZ to post their Pros & Cons with your bikes as well. It will be of great help to each others in finding out any particular problems coming our ways.

I took delivery of my FZ on 27 Oct '08 & my love affair started ever since then. It has been a very great experience & also a very good choice in putting my money on a Yamaha bike bcoz my earlier bikes were P-150 in Aug'03 & P-180 in June'06. I had p-180 as well as ZMA-R which I bought in Feb'08. I still have ZMA-R & this FZ also. Earlier, I was hugely confused between RTR-Fi & FZ bcoz both bikes dealers were telling me "40-45days for delivery + 50% amount in advance" ...I was very much upset bcoz these bike manufactures are taking our money in advance & then producing bike for us in period of 40days!!!! Anyhow, I got my FZ after a waiting of 36 days & I was 5th person in Hyderabad to own this bike as told by Venkatesa Motors. Where ever I was passing by.... Evil-Eyes were seeing like this

FZ was & is an absolute feast for bikers eyes I say, bcoz it has changed the whole biking scenario with tag-team partner R-15. Till date...my FZ has clocked almost 3000kms & what I have achieved till date is.....

* Complete peace of Mind in buying FZ & not buying RTR-Fi
* FZ itself is a tread-setter in today's market scene
* Huge applauds & many many Evil-eyed looks on bike
* A brilliant piece of machinery

Its been only once or twice that I have clocked speeds over 100, once was 109 & sometimes later was 116 bcoz (I'm sure it can go further) my friend was asking me to show how much it can run at.... I'm sure many of U who owns it have crossed above 115kmph also, I will test my last limit someday when I will go crazy to rip it to its last heart-beat.

Mileage is coming a regular 40-42kmpl, once in between I got 48kmpl immediately after my 1st service, last week only I have done its 2nd service also & haven't checked it mileage yet. Not even a single hassle I have got in my FZ till today, lets see after 10k odo reading if it will keep things clean-n-clear as it is today.

'
Happy Valentine's Day to all
'

Best Regards,
m6

Right now i filled 40 psi there, but i am really confused with the recommended air pressure
Even I got mine with 40 psi from showroom.
Get the pressures to the manual specified, they are really good. The bike glides with 28 and 33 psi. I even suggest you to get the 32psi for the rear tire... thats what I use. Its even better...

And any body, pls suggest me on HID. DId anyone got one on their Lord?

Hey... I accidentally noticed that my rear wheel is still spinning even when is clutch is completely depressed in 1st gear! I think it should not... is it so? or is it normal?
{Double checked - stopped it. and the wheel started spinning on its own even when clutch is completely pressed}. Pls help.

No other complaints... I get around 43kmpl and clocked 725 kms and due 1st service in 4 days.

i m not an expert but it may be due to two reasons

1st is ur accelerator screw that is in the left side of the engine it may be tightened too much

2nd is the clutch wire that again may be tightened too much

see that and accc loose to get the best out of it wat i have learned that accelerator screw is like for when you start the engine and halt it without stopping the engine u dont have to accelerate and the engine wont turn off that way but both of em should be done at the right point acc to me it may affect your mileage...

wat is pinging ?

ok got it already posted # 502

i think misfiring is not the correct term or you r reffering to some other thing, it is called detonation
Knocking (also called knock, detonation or spark knock, pinking in UK English or pinging in US English) in spark-ignition internal combustion engines occurs when combustion of the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder starts off correctly in response to ignition by the spark plug, but one or more pockets of air/fuel mixture explode outside the envelope of the normal combustion front. The fuel-air charge is meant to be ignited by the spark plug only, and at a precise time in the piston's stroke cycle. The peak of the combustion process no longer occurs at the optimum moment for the four-stroke cycle. The shock wave creates the characteristic metallic "pinging" sound, and cylinder pressure increases dramatically. Effects of engine knocking range from inconsequential to completely destructive. It should not be confused with pre-ignition (or preignition), as they are two separate events.

So, its not normal... I will ask the service centre guys rather than meddling with those screws myself. Anyway going for 1st service in 3 days and my mileage is satisfactory...
problems to tell them in 2st service
1. Seat wobbles, not a snug fit. Pls do something!
2. Full clutch- still the rear wheel spins (above prob)
3. Funny sound from silencer after stopping the bike. (yeah, the ping/ting like sound at around 1/sec frequency)
4. Lower the headlight beam.

anymore?

I am not too sure that how many of us has this problem, but surely some 1 did discussed that on this thread -

Its about a little increase in vibrations at 60-75 mark. After 75, the vibrations are almost gone, but theres huge increse in the sound level.

Also i would like to know if any one of us using 'Yamalube' lubricant for lubricating Chain? If yes, what is the frequency?

Been to a newly opened yamaha showroom... the guy showed me a book printed with "on order only" accessories, those goldplated levers, mesh seat cover, glowing yamaha logo etc with details on how to fit those. Its a complete book and not just a pamplet. He received it just yesterday and had no idea about the prices.
May be in a week or two they will be available. I am all excited...
