There is a Gpower from NGK fo FZ but there is no significant gain from it....atleast thats what the feedback i got....else you can take a chance and go for the honda's Iridium like the others did.....

Go for the motul semi-synth or the petronas full synth......
these are the two best options available in Pune....
Dont bother with Castrol......already used it.....

Rest all is your decision....cheers....
Thanks for the input. Will get in touch with yam factory shop asap

I had a same milege issue in Suzuki Fiero (got only 32KMPL) and tried to get it resolved in the free service time itself. But there was no proper response from the TVS guys. But later after few years I have noticed it was improved to 50KMPL. I don't know how??????????

Here I want to sort it out immediately. Then later if I want to do any modifications in the bike, I can cross verify the milege impact.
If true average is that erratic, i don't know what to say. If you live in Pune, you might be in luck since people are of the opinion that Yamaha Factory Shop have good mechanics and engineers and they will take a look at your issue. If you aren't in Pune, then go to a good Yamaha SVC (yes, I know its hard to find one... but still) and get it checked out.

Default Constant speed for most of the time?

friends,

this is my second post or so i think...i used to ride mostly in NH7 as my office is around 40 kms away from home...around 30 kms is a stretch road and i used to drive at a costant speed between 90 to 100 and sometimes above 100...there wont be any change in speed unless there is a need to reduce...will it create any problem? ya, am getting mileage of around 35 and its not best, but apart from that, will it damage the engine or create any other problem?

experts, pls help

Good to know that man.. I'll be definitely switching over to Motul as it is recommended by few of you here. Castrol P1 gives up after 1000 kms. Any idea about cost of Petronas?

Most of the engine gets set in the first 500km itself.......the rest is what we say fine tuning......
U can put the synths between 4.5k to 5k.....
No worries.......cheers....
I had my 3rd service on 25th march & had changed my oil to castrol P1 so I would switch over to Motul on my next service.

PS: I had my bike's service on 25th March 2010 & rode it for around 100 kms after service till 28th March 2010 & thereafter i left mumbai for official reasons. I'll be getting back to mumbai tomorrow. The problem is that my bike is idle since nearly a month & even the engine was'nt started by anyone since last 1 month. I have had such experience in past when I left my bike home & returned after a couple of weeks & when attempted to start the bike, it wont start at all no matter what i do. It takes atleast 10-15 minutes or even more & a combination of cleaning spark plug, using choke, giving full throttle etc to start the bike finally. It feels very bad to crank the engine continuously for minutes but I have no choice. However I make sure my every attempt to crank up the starter is of less then 5 seconds as suggested to me by a frnd.

Hence I'm nervous since I know the bike wont start so easily even this time since its nearly a month now since her ignition is turned on. Therefore I seek your advices on this matter & further suggestion if any.

even if you rip the bike at 100kmh you are getting 35 which is not a bad mileage buddy...
i think it will not cause any damage to the engine at riding 90-100kmh... but if we ride 100+ constant ripping the engine will get really hot and as you are doing it daily can cause something...
riding FZ between 80-90 kmh is real fun... ya i know it can easily go upto 105kmh without any lag... but i like to cruise between 80-90 on long rides and normal riding at 70-75kmh...

yes, its a complete fun to cruise in 90s. above 100, bike is struggling...but i didnt feel much heat frm the engine...i used to ride 80 kms everyday and done 8500kms till date within 6 months...i feel am overloading the average powered fz engine...i drive few of my frnds bikes (apache and r15) sometime to office and feel their engine is really happy to rev in 100s but didnt get such feel in my fazer till date

Considering R15 and also Apache, those bikes are more concentrated on the top end(especially R15)... For R15 the real power starts to check in after 5K+ RPM and
which has got more top end... FZ/Fazer is designed for mostly city riding... as i have touched 122kmh on my FZ, mind you its one heck of a difficulty to get those speed, while on R15 122 is so simple... so my opinion is to ride below 90 which will be really good and fun, also you can rip the bike above 100 occasionally too...

ya rite...i used to ride in 90s and reduced above 100 speed...so i guess am not hurting the engine by riding constant 90s
