As for the FZ, i was told of the compression that the jerk/choke/blast from the exhaust will continue till abut 3000kms to 5000kms till the engine settles enough carbon. Then only will the bike give enough mileage and better performance...dont know how much its true cos my FZ performs well so far though the choke/blast continues from the exhaust at times especially when the engine is cold.

Few weeks back... i remember i was in about 60-70kmph on a slightly uphill road on almost full throttle. but when i let loose the throttle a bit and tried regaining the same speed and acceleration, the engine did not respond instantly. When i told about this problem, the mechanic told me that it is due to compression (dont exactly know what that means) and also he told me that because of higher torque, the compression will continue for some time only....

well my FZ is now about 3400kms and 4 months old, the perfomance is better, though still at times the blast continues expesially when the engine is cold agian...

Another problem i faced earlier was the front disc break, it sqeaks at many times and the sound goes on and off at will even if I dont apply the break. But for the past few weeks its gone...But sure i do love the squeaks whe the break is applied cos pedestrians gets alarmed and moves quickly to the sides, which they seldom respons to the horn......

so i guess you better get a Yamaha professional mechanic check the bike and ask for suggestions from other FZs owners for more feedback...

The pick up of FZ is good and improving with passing time and kilometers...the throttle though it feels a bit hard is much better, feels like more torque is concentrated on the throttle. When I wheelied with pulsar150 and fz1, I found the response of fz's throttle much better than pulsar even after cluth adjustment (dont know wat other pulsar members views). I had to throttle so much to get the necessary torque to lift the bike unlike with the fz. My pulsar friend felt the same, he found the same ease with FZ....and he could easily wheelie with it though new to FZ.

So i guess you should not feel bad, just get your bike check properly and thoroughly in the yamaha workshop. take another bike and ride with it and then see for yourself how your bike performs....

By the way, how much kilometer have you rode the bike?
i did not not understand the" jerk/choke/blast from the exhaust " you guys are talking about. is it the PHAT PHAT SOUND FROM THE exaust u get when u ease off the throttle.
also did anyone mod the exaust of the fz i am thinking of cutting off the silencer .u can also get more power up top.fz exaust and r6 are almost the same and take a look at r6 mods at youtube.i will ger it done after 1000kms.
also modded the handlebars, now it is low (at the tank level )feels like ridind a superbike with massive tank btw ur arms

Well buddy... by choke/blast i meant to say the .....well how to explain.....
you see, sometimes when you accelerte the engine especially when its a bit cold you get a blast, a different sound of a blast from the exhaust..... thats what we were earlier talking about....you can refer to previous postings of other members.

As for the sound/squeak... the sound appears even without applying the breaks.....i have asked the yamaha mechanic to checked it infront of me, and that too twice.....

But then it keeps making the sound every now and then... though now its no more...when i enquired an engineer from Yamaha regarding it...he answered that its due to the disc break calipars or whatever you call the mechanical item. and i am glad that the sound has disappeared with time... probably due to prolonge riding which ultimately increases the gap between the Disc and the calipars.....
Only when i apply the breaks, its makes some squeaking sounds just like in the breaking of trucks....sounds good to me cos people gets the attention of the sounds of breaks and moves quickly to avoid being hit....

Well so far they havent even come up with a leg guard....dam every time I fall the tank cover keeps getting scratched and damaged.... at least the leg guard would prevent heavy damage to the tank while falling... and one more thing....the handle gets distorted everytime i fall man...

So the disadvantage of fixing/modifying/ your handle near your tank will only increase your damage to the tank when you fall......though one side of the tank covers cost only about Rs.600 .....lol...

So leg guard would do good in preventing the handle from being bent every now and then and also for preventing too much damage to the tank cover.... but again these leg guards can also hamper the chasis of the bike...but agian I guess the chasis is strong enough to widthstand such damages....is is not?

hahhaha.... yesterday, i was wheelieing with my FZ...went almost 90degrees up, the numberplate screws broke, the tail end got scratched, the side cover of the head light got damaged, my tank cover from the left got broken at the edges.....and the handle got bent.....lol
I remember i was running along with the bike for few yards when the bike front tyre was totally up and balancing on rear tyres only...i could hear the tail end and the number plates scratching against the road..... but there was no more space ahead of me except the wall, so i had to let go of my right hand and then the left and then ....bang! phrang! crank!.... and i lost balance too but manage to hold on somehow....

Default @mindgrinder

thanks mindgrinder for the link...

well I wasn't trying to be proud of my falling dude...its being humourous and the "BIKING SPIRIT" thats within a biker like you and me...

Of course m sure you might have fallen many times too. And everytime you/me and any biker falls is a learning experience. Its not about the "falling" its about the "Spirit"...

"When one starts on something new or different, there is a high probability of failing"

Thanks again...will be checking the link....
