  • Yamaha to invest Rs 800 cr on capacity expansion, new products

"We plan to invest Rs 800 crore in 2012-13 on production enhancement, network expansion and new product development," India Yamaha Motor National Business Head Roy Kurian told reporters on the sidelines of the 11th Auto Expo.

Japanese two-wheeler maker Yamaha said it plans to invest Rs 800 crore on capacity expansion and new product development in the next two years, as it looks to sell 10 lakh two-wheelers by 2014.

The company, which is present in India through its wholly-owned subsidiary India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd, has now two plants with a total capacity to manufacture around 6.5 lakh two wheelers annually.

"We plan to invest Rs 800 crore in 2012-13 on production enhancement, network expansion and new product development," India Yamaha Motor National Business Head Roy Kurian told reporters on the sidelines of the 11th Auto Expo.

Kurian further added that the company is looking to touch 10 lakh capacity by 2014 from the current 6-6.5 lakh and would like to sell the same in the domestic market.

Commenting on the plans, he said the company was looking to strengthen various segments, including 150cc, as it targets 10 lakh sales in the next two years.

"We are looking at consolidating 150 cc segment, including FZ and SZ series and scooter segment. These initiatives will take us to the next level," Kurian said.

The company is also looking at enhancing its presence in the country by 2014.

"We are looking at 2,000 dealers for 1 million sales target by 2014," Kurian said adding that the 2000 figure would include sub delares, branches as well as Yamaha Bike Corners (YBCs).

The company has also started scouting for land in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for setting up its third plant in the country.

Again the term "new product's" hasn't been elaborated so we don't know what will be.

"We are looking at consolidating 150 cc segment, including FZ and SZ series and scooter segment. These initiatives will take us to the next level," Kurian said.
I admit that the 150cc scooter segment is mostly virgin territory, except for the Eterno and Blaze, both discontinued.
But a 150cc Scooter taking you to the next level? Is that what Yamaha imagines for our future?

If that's their definition of the "next level", then fine, go ahead with it. In fact, let me give you some ideas: why not make a 150cc motorboat, a 150cc toy plane for kids that actually flies, a 150cc unmanned remote controlled luggage transporter and if possible a 150cc engined cycle too. That would surely take you to the next level..

I think it is this video, it has some female and male voices which are probably that of Sunidhi and Pankaj:

            Yes Yamaha - YouTube

But what a strange anthem. It's more of an advertisement as some of its extracts are:
"toofano ki taqat hai, dikhney main bhi stylish hai",
"jab koi baat kare, hum pehle kahen Yes Yamaha".
I liked Hum mein hai Hero" much better than this...

The music might be used for TV adverts in future I think, otherwise what's the point spending all that money in recording and ambassador-ing Sunidhi Chauhan? They're obviously seeing what Hero MotoCorp is doing...

The advert video still has to be created though, as nothing such is available on the net so far.

                  -
@ cscsarkar: Has the complete music appeared on TV earlier? I heard only the "Yes Yamaha" chant in some JA adverts.

Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !
