Over several decades, MOTUL has consistently improved the performance of its motorcycle lubricants through development of its own unique type of ESTER, with the latest result being the introduction of the Ester CoreⓇ technology. This technology combines carefully chosen esters with an optimal selection of top quality synthetic base oils coupled with an innovative additives package.
Involved in the highest levels of motorsport, Motul has developed specific motorcycle lubricants for racing under the brand Factory Line to deliver extra power and higher torque. Specifically, the new 300V Factory Line Road Racing gives a power increase of 1.30% while the Off Road version offers a torque increase of 2.5% compared to previous versions. On top of this, MOTUL has targeted in its development improvements in two other critical areas; the gearbox and the wet clutch. The new 300V provides outstanding extreme pressure properties to protect highly loaded gearboxes while the clutch friction indexes have been optimized to improve life time and response of clutch discs in Road Racing and Off Road.

In addition to technological advances, Motul has revised its label design to reinforce its position as a specialist in the motorcycle markets. Priorities were given to the MOTUL brand, to key product information on the front label such as quality, product name, MA2, and the application visualized through an image of a motorcycle specific to each product. The 300V Factory Line has not been left behind and adopted a new design in red and black to emphasize its Racing value.

I used 10W40 300V Factory as well as Shell Advanced Ultra 10W40 on my CBR 250R & found Shell is slightly superior to Motul over & above, cost of Motul was Rs 130 more per liter than Shell. Motul is not only expensive but does almost the same job as that of Shell Advanced Ultra, I found it's not worth the cost.

Edit - I'm really not sure what's a big thing to make this as news because, I've bought 7100 20W50 nearly 2 years ago & 300V 10W40 about 6 months ago. All these products were being sold by Motul, not sure what's new? Technology or the new graphic can?

I, fully agree with you. I am presently using SHELL ADVANCED ULTRA 10w 40 fully synthetic in my extreme and this oil is amazing to say the least. After using for 1500 km the engine has grown more free to rev and also vibration has decreased a lot. Compared to OE oil this oil has made the engine free to rev and throttle response is amazing.

For P 220 owners who were using 7100, the grade has now been changed to 10W40. So useless for us. Same is the case with 5100. Only Mineral 3000 can be used.

300v is now available in 15w60. But it will be overkill for our bikes as it would be priced exorbitantly!

Hey, thanks for the clarification. Hopefully they will continue to sell it and not discontinue.

I thought of bringing 5-6 cans of 7100 20w-50 today itself.
But seeing the next post made me cool.

Well I would like to differ on this based on my experience on R15. I have done almost 35K kms on Motul 300V. Heard rave reviews of Shell FS and tried it on 3 occasions. No doubt Shell is good but not as good as Motul.
Just sharing my experience on R15, where recommended grade is W40(as per the manual). Is the recommended grade for CBR250R is W40(sorry for naive query).

Pls...you need to read, re-read & re-read my post!!! I said Motul is NOT WORTH THE MONEY, when Shell is as good or exceeds Motul's capability

BTW, have you checked the tolerance levels of the engine oil mentioned by both the manufacturers? I think most probably you might not have; had you gone through them, you would've understood clearly that Shell Advance Ultra 10W40 is slightly superior to both 7100 & 300V Motul 10W40

Anyway, no more discussion from me on this

Well typical aargee style of replying .
No offense but I am sharing an observation based on my experience. And what worth Motul or Shell is for me, is again dependent on the extensive experience I have had with them. And as such, I ll reiterate that Motul served better and worth the higher price tag. How do u quantify the difference in price versus difference in efficacy. Well it's again debatable to the core.
