it would be wise to know the number of bikes sold (excluding scooters) before we comment on this.
Its has been a wonderful touring experience so far with my 220.
She is as reliable as her counterparts.
i have toured with ZMA's, R 15's etc....and i feel proud that an Indian company(Bajaj & TVS both) is able to compete with Jap giants.
Think from a broader perspective - we as a country should grow - allowing manufactures from other countries enjoy monopoly in our country is not going to help us grow !!
Having said that, competition is surely beneficial.

People claiming this is because of the quality issues/product inferiority etc are just misguided. What the boss says is right. Quarterly performance is only a short term measurement. What matters is the end of the year results.

Well said!!

Also no point in paying the premium if it's not justified accordingly.

HMSI is holding up its growth story, does anyone have BALs and TVS numbers for December.

Quote:
NEW DELHI: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India on Monday reported a 32 per cent increase in two-wheeler sales in December at 94,082 units against 71,010 units in the same month last year. The company, which has shut down its plant on December 27, 2008 till January 2, 2009, for annual maintenance, said motorcycle sales during the month grew by 62 per cent at 37,118 units against 22,952 units in the year-ago period. Scooter sales rose by 19 per cent growth at 56,964 units in December against 48,058 units in the same month last year, it added.

Well, one thing I feel we are missing out is that HMSI is still new in the market, they have lesser dealers compared to the competition, so they are adding more and more dealers in small towns and I feel this is where the extra numbers are coming for HMSI.

it's cause of guys like u that we have a saree guard on the r1.
the reason bajaj sells is due to low spares cost and hype.
What is it that u r trying to say? Ur french doesn't make much sense to me.

Are you the same guy who, in old xBhp, had a signature with a cigarette in your mouth standing to "No Smoking" sign board?

If yes, then no wonder you talk so disrespectfully here, again.
