  • Bajaj slips to 3rd position in 2-wheeler mkt in Nov

Surprisingly did not find this piece of news in xbhp, I guess everybody knew Bajaj is on decline. Honda has just four products, two bikes and two scooters and has taken on the mightly Bajaj's countless products. Even if this is not a long term trend, what shows is even in India quality matter.

^^This is a confusing news report!!

Hosur December 1, 2008: TVS Motor Company has registered two wheeler sales of 98,402 units in November 2008 against 112,766 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.

General inflationary trends, liquidity crunch and the continuing adverse impact of rising interest rates with restricted availability of retail finance affected sales. In addition, November 2007 had the extra benefit of festival sales.

Now where does TVS stands?? The figures for TVS are higher than that of the Honda.Btw, BAL's official sales report has some thing different to tell.I really don't know how the news has surfaced on the internet!!

^^Honda had overtaken BAL in terms domestic sales only and not in terms of total volumes which also include export figures.

All I will say, is that if the report about the decline in BAL's market share is true - I wouldn't be surprised at all. About time I say.

It is good for Bajaj to know that quality does matter, quantity doesn't! But one month's sales figure is not at all enough to conclude everything. Good if Honda can keep up the pace till the 1st quarter of 2009.

Even i think this is a one-month anomaly. We should keep an eye in the coming months to see whether the magic of HMSI has really worked!!

I had one doubt.Doesn't HMSI export it's vehicles?

Not sure apart from Stunner, which they started recently.

Its a fact that Overall Motorcyles Sales have fallen during 2007 and 2008 and have affected virtually every motorcycle maker..

On the other hand Scooter Sales have surprisingly shown an upward trend..!! And needless to say that HMSI dominates the scooter scene in India. Sure, the Pleasure (HH), Scooty Pep (TVS) and the Kristal (Bajaj) does some small numbers, but its nowhere close to what HMSI does with its scooters.

Looks like the Scooter Focus of HMSI in India is paying off for the time being.

@payeng-Seems like we are going back to the old days.

                            OT:
@Puneet & praveen-Make it 80-90% and still I won't mind because if there is a OT then it has to go.

HH has managed to hold on to its numbers(289,426) where TVS and Bajaj have hit the negative chord, much worse for Bajaj as they are down by half of what they have been selling so far. No other companys motorcycles numbers have plummeted the way Bajaj has. Does it say something?? ring in the bell perhaps!

The only question is how long can Bajaj last with this downward trend before it does a SOS!
