    confused..

    1. Why aren't you considering diesel engines?
    2. Have you test driven both mentioned cars?
    3. For now, don't think about resale atleast, please look for what do you want!
    4. "also people look down on you" Forget what others will think! You must be knowing that many high class rich families had booked the Nano when it was launched for the first time, just to own the cheapest car in India! You're going to drive it, people won't praise you for an Alto either, so don't give a damn to what others think!
    5. Note down your priorities and make a decision, test drives will help you.

I agree with what sunny said. If you are thinking the nano to make you look down then rethink about it. Ever felt like looked down for eating a vada pav on the streets. Trust me its any day better than not having any 4 wheeler. Even am of 6 feet & weighing 70+ kgs. I felt very comfortable in nano. There were like 4 people in the car & the nano pulled us easily without any niggles. Dint felt like hills should be an issue though.
Anyways at the end of the day its your call. Want comfort, mileage, less initial cost then go for nano
Want power, speed, better resale value then alto is your answer.
NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

        • One more thing i would like to add up is the AC in nano. I was blown away at the chilling atmosphere it provided. For a car of its segment the AC is damn awesome.

well bhaia.. i dont think there would be anything like people will look down..
i have a hyundai getz,i10 and volkswagen vento and too close to book the tata nano 2012.
i dont think there is something like that in it, people will always say even you get a big and sexy truck or a cycle
i am sure it is good on hills but yeah you cant expect it too have a good pick up hehe...
now days main thing is that it should be pocket friendly .. when money goes in petrol and some like me whose half pocket money goes in fuel really dont care if i save some for myself rather than thinking what people will say about my car

            • Similar here to princesirohi.

I need a personal car for daily commute, not more than 25km/ day. I would always prefers to Nano than Alto and Eon. But Should I go ahead & book current 2012 Nano or wait some time more to get new Nano (Which was shown in Auto Expo'12. It has better interior, chrome mustache & power steering.)

Some websites speculating about Diesel Nano around the corner in first quarter of this year. Is that true? Owning a diesel car always sensible move than petrol one, even if it will be 60/65k dearer.

Definitely, I will buy a Nano, but cant make sure to go straight to current one or wait for next 4/5 months for Power steered or Diesel one. Pls en-light!

              • Used 2008 Maruthi SX4, Should i go for it or not

                Hi! everyone,

Please help me come to a decision, i tried all i could gain from teambhp, but still need help.

I have found a 2008 model maruthi sx4 (NOT VVT) zxi topend version for sale, in maruthi true value. Paid a token of INR5000 and booked
                > INR 4.7L all inclusive, after negotiation
                > Run 15000 kms.
                > Body condition Good
                > But doent feel refined, ride was a bit rough. is that its character
couldnt experince the 102bhp power claimed. when compared to the 87bhp swift.
(may be because of its size or may be because i couldnt try it completely)
                > Clutch hits the bottom dhak!! not like swift and not like 800???, not tight nor loose either, doesnt strain to pick from 2nd gear with ac on.
                > Life time tax paid, expires in another 11yrs.
                > Insurance ends this march 2012.

Is this a good deal or a bad deal?

                > And what all things do i need to consider when buying a car from true value?
                > is the 1yr or 3 free services really worth or is it just a gizmo and can claim only petty things?

                > reviews say mileage with ac on is between 10.3 to 13kmpl on city and 15-16.5 on highways. is this true? SX4 owners shed some light
diesel variant says to give 14-19kmpl
                > should i consider the diesel or should i stick with the petrol?
                > normal usage would be day to day drive of 15kms in the city. and some occasional long drives, depends? if its a diesel we would defnitely take it for long drives 250 or 700kms single side drives.
so normal usage says monthly around 400kms.
                > help me with some calculations on the same, or if i need to consider diesel what should be the price.

The car was owned by a company and the address and registration says chennai, but the sticker on the RC Book says

                RTO, chennai south east
"removal of hypothecation of <reg number>
                <some numbers and date>
existing with kotak mahindra prime ltd, banglore
<some number> is cancelled with effect from <last year date>
                it is signed underneath by
asst registering authority, chennai (South east)
how can this be possible, company in chennai and the financier in banglore????

KINDLY ADVISE ON THE SAME TOPIC AND PLEASE AVOID RECOMMENDING OTHER CARS.

That's cause of the power-to-weight ratio

Diesel makes sense if your daily driving is anywhere upwards of 50kms and you plan to keep it for 3 yrs +
                    > normal usage would be day to day drive of 15kms in the city. and some occasional long drives, depends? if its a diesel we would defnitely take it for long drives 250 or 700kms single side drives.

If you buy a diesel you end up paying ~1L more just to buy it, later you do save on daily running cost, and to make the most out of it, you'll have to run it more

                        • Guys after a long wait finally my car is here. Ya its tata nano only . An awesome car it is. All ma friends who responded negatively on the car took back their words after sitting in it just once. But I feel the car does have a few quality issues. But compare it with the price tag & one would feel that quality is not so bad. What I feel is that its a good city car fit for small families.
