I am not getting the duke for the weekend getaways. I am getting it for commuting to work every day. I have been with my Pulsar 150 classic for 10 years and i felt the duke is the perfect upgrade for me. Not every one are trying to do a 0 - 60 dash at every chance they get. Dont assumeOriginally posted by ABikerAtHeart View PostBesides, Duke is strictly for those hardcore enthusiasts with pots of cash to burn some fuel on those weekend getaways of some passionate riding. None of the people booking it in their right senses with be using for city riding, they'll be doing it for city touring, testing its 0-60 every other gap they find in the bumper bumper traffic.

That's great for you Shubz that you know that Duke handles 10 times better than an R15! Fantastic! Love does defy all logic. Power of a vehicle also impacts its handling characteristics. If the R15 also had 25 horses at its disposal, it would have made life difficult for Duke easily. But look what you've done to me, I just compared the two very different machines!Originally posted by Shubz View PostR15 vs Duke200

I confess, i'm whole-heartedly biased. The Duke's a great bike. But R15 is the best.:P And i'm biased. All for the love of yamaha. :POriginally posted by nithinkv View PostI am not getting the duke for the weekend getaways. I am getting it for commuting to work every day. I like the Duke for its 'cute' looking indicators, besides the amazing engine. And also because someone here said its a Splendor with 10times more power. I have '00/'04/'09 Splendors at home. And nothing beats its nimbleness.
I might get a Duke a year down the line. The revised edition, maybe.

But the point is someone here has the dilemma i once did and i'm only sharing what i decided upon and why! Dont see why that seems to turn the thread to one of those facebook pages?!

Why even compare,bro?
Does it always have to be 'pros and cons'?
Why cant there be only pros? Why even hint about a con that invariably a bike has?
Spoils the buyer's mood - a taste of which two of the 'senior/10year old riders' got.
Each to his own.
You wanna buy a bike, buy it. Dont unnecessarily run about asking every tom-dick-n-harry about it. I did it,and realised how stupid it was.
If there's anything to discuss, its the post ownership reviews, problems, solution, and everything that you go through after buying it. Peace. Period!__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______

Whoa!
BikeratHeart and SatelliteKid - Please do not get me wrong. My comments were made in a lighter vein. I apologize if I hurt any sentiments/views.
I agree Splendor is quite a nimble bike! Be it owning a Duke or R15 or any bike for that matter - None of them are fools to choose the bike of their liking. I respect that and would never look down upon other bike as inferior. What one has, another would not!
As Santhosh said - each bike is different in its own way. The actual comparisons can be done only after the Duke hits the road and we get to know of different experiences.
Apologies to all for my inane "x10" comment!

For the sake of rising fuel prices and the need of burning rubber, let there be peace.

Very true..Originally posted by Satellite.kid View PostThat's great for you Shubz that you know that Duke handles 10 times better than an R15! Fantastic! Love does defy all logic.
That's an all time dilemma (almost) everyone have when he/she uses brain and not the heart. If one uses his heart and go with the bike he loves, he won't see any cons in her. It's same as you accept "HER" with all her good as well as bad points when you are in LOVE with "HER". Well in that case sometimes you love it. Don't you !?Originally posted by ABikerAtHeart View PostWhy even compare, bro?

Perfect example is in above quotes...

@all, I asked ABikerAtHeart a doubt and lot of things happened in just 12 hours
ABikerAtHeart, After reading your reply I told myself...Yes yamaha. But then there are others' comments. Again it started " duke vs pulsar vs r15" It's still on.
. But duke is out from the list now, as i will have to go 250kms to get it serviced. Let me see what pulsar has to offer. I had a classic pulsar. so i'm aware of it's traits .
Love the ride, not the destination
