Pretty nice place..

We stayed here.

On the way back, bit before Drass, dont miss to pay your visit at the Kargil War Memorial

Hey Ashwin, I too forgot that pass name. I think the place was Parma that you need to mention in the permits for that route.

For Marsmikla I think the name of the village was Pobhrang

Mention the village name too. Because the guys emphasize on the via route too.
Which is what happened to us when we were not allowed to pass through chushul for Hanle because we didn't mention the via route places properly. And there is no way they'll let you pass if it isn't not mentioned in the permits.

For permits, you can walk in directly to the DC's office which opens up at 10 am and they will assist you with all the relavent information. Closed on sunday's and public holidays ...

Chusul, you may go from a place 30 kms before pangong called tangste. or via pangong - spangmik - chusul.

The road to Phobrang is a bifurcation towards the left of the lake. From phobrang, is a steep ascent to marsimik la.

Hunder to leh you may return via Shakti village - wari la - karu - leh.
Longer and bad roads ..

As mentioned above, Drass would be a more scenic option, but kargil would be more viable (more availability of accomo).

Srinagar - Delhi

Srinagar - Anantnag - Jawahar Tunnel - Banihal - Patnitop - Udhampur - Jammu - Pathankot - Jalandhar - Ambala - Delhi ...
