i was on that ride. We had three stock zma's, one avenger, one P220 and an LML Adreno.

all bikes performed flawlessly. However the adreno's clutch plates gave up when we were returning from Pangong.

One more important thing. Overinflate your tires by 3-4 psi above recommended. With a little careful driving, you can forget about punctures.

I am Glad that This topic has come up. I came to seriously know about this trip last October and since then craving to make it.Even made a couple of long trips here as a kind of preparation. I am thinking for a trip in mid June, The Enfield Odyssey is around that time so I think may be that would be a better time, offcourse my job permitting.
Any one from Hyderabad thinking about the ride. I am planning to ride on my Unicorn, I also have R15 but I am bit worried about its suitability to the trip.
Oh yes I plan to take my Bike to Delhi by Train or Transport by road <Guys advice>. Then My tentative plan is to.
Delhi-Manali- Leh.
Leh- Khardungla-Diskit-Nubra Valley-Leh
Leh-Pagong-Leh
Thinking of Leh-Kargil-Srinagar-Jammu(Jammu - Hyd/Warangal By Train)
Or to Delhi Via Manali and Back.

There are lot of places to visit but the I would like to have only two weeks off from the work plus two weekends on the either sides of the break.

Also please follow the following link for a good triplogue.

^^^ a P220 with a Sirac tyre for rear, running on Motul 300V FL & NGK Iridiums... and make sure if you are tall enough for that... a 5'8" guy finds it tough to reach the ground with the Sirac on.

Oh Yes Karizma's seem to be the favorites after bullets. I have seen images of ppl going on P220s,Comets,Pulsars and Unicorns. Also read abt a lot of RXs making trips there.

the most popular choice/choices need not be the best choices.

A Fuel Injected bike is a very good bet at those very high altitudes. Didn't you guys read through the HX-5 log either on xBhp or on Bike India?

ZMA is the best! Any time!!! If not then 200 is also amazing!

I have persoanly tried 220-Fi and R15 at high altitudes, not performing well..and FZ also looses it's strength!
ZMA with piilion was doing enuf to compete R15 at high altitudes,or if you are planning to go on any F-i Bike,Done'y forget to carry An Octane Booster along you!

And how high an altitude are we talking about, here, L.P? Certainly lesser than 10,000 odd feet, one would presume?

The P220, in my opinion (as also clearly been said by one member) is one of the better bikes that would take on Leh/ Ladakh with ease. I don't think there would be any real need of 'octane boosters'; come-on...
