Congrats, Ashwin! I am sure you guys must have had a gala time.

And, btw, welcome to the waiting club. We too are waiting for our bikes to be delivered. It's been almost 20 days since we gave the bikes.

For those who are taking the ZMA's to Leh. We also faced loss of power and the jerk with u will get as if the petrol is getting over while climbing up all the passes. On straight roads and while decending no issues.

And if you rev it more in each gear bike was not moving as expected and it was giving the jerk. So had to keep it in a medium range to get it moving in a good speed. After reaching leh we got this fixed from a local mechanic.

According to him it was taking more pertrol than required and hence the bike was behaving like that. What he did is , he removed the carb and
in one of the screws in golden color (sorry dont know the name and have no pics ). He put a piece of wire, so that more pertol doesnt flow inside.
He did it so quick, i mean he was not like as if he was experimenting it. He knew what to do the moment we said abt the prob. In fact he explained me how it would behave if this is not done. I could only agree to him since i experienced the same. After that there was a considerable change in the bike . Could rev it hard in every gear , there was no jerk and bike was pulling with lot more ease. I mean really good, climbed changala and Marsmik la with ease.

So i suggest u guys to get this done from Manali itself. The guy in leh chanrged only 80 rs fr this. I hope it helps for all ZMA's which has Asthma at higher altitude. Could even try for other bikes as well , i feel.

nice info this 1...i wud lyk to share my xperience wid my zma 2...this problem is faced by every bike...one of my friends on the trip faced severe problem of mountain sickness at pang. he wasnt well so i had to cross taglangla(world's second highest pass) as quick possible. this missing problem n the loss of power was quite annoying. i observed that while your rpm pulses above 3 n less than a little above 4, zma overcomes this problem and believe me i crossed from the end of moore plains to rumtse in about 40 minutes(no shortcuts). next day my friend on another zma had this modification of the carb while i continued by stabling my rpm in observed pattern. the results were no much different. without pillion we crossed every pass on 3rd n 4th gear with ease barring a few streches. well but mine is just an observation that i cudnt verify with ne1. if ne1 tries it, plz let me 9 if it works on other zmas 2.

one more thing to add...if u go for a mechanic, never try the one at karu. in leh shashi is really gud 1 on the airport road...

Posting from Leh. Did K-Top yesterday on a Zma. Treacherous conditions, mostly being the temperature and tricky road surface. Rode in temperatures of -30, and staying at K-Top for more than 5 mins was tough owing to the cold and freezing winds. Trying to do Marsimik-La tomorrow provided conditions and luck is good.

Road to Manali is closed, but there is traffic plying. Srinagar road is open according to the local taxi guys.

Feels good to be back in the mountains after 5 long years.
