#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

Oh! Thanks. I don't think there is any specific DRL in Indian Bikes. In higher capacity foreign bikes, the low light is always on. Now, most of the XBHPians do run with their low beam / pilot lamps on even in daytime. I know, with so much of sunlight, it may not be that visible but trust me, even in daytime, if you flash from a closer distance onto the vehicle at front, the rider/driver will take notice of it. Happens with me daily

for me it is honk and flash combo.
but in case of flashing 220's projector works best imo.oneday i was riding on completely dark road,a 220 was tail-gating me for 5 mins,i could barely look into rvm for that 5 mins, when he zoomed past me i was blind for 2 mins.

Even on the brightest sunny day, a bike with headlights ON will be more visible than the ones with not. Plus you don't need to flash every time, other vehicles get a psychological effect that "beware of this bike", when your headlight is ON even in low beam, and they are more alert than when the headlight is OFF. When I'm with headlight ON during day, I just keep a bit right on the vehicle(visible in his RVM) to overtake and wait patiently without flashing for few seconds, most of the times he spots me and gives way, if he does not then either flash comes into play or the Bosch dual

Plus, riding with headlight ON specially on single way roads is very beneficial, the oncoming vehicles get a better idea about your speed and line and they stay a bit cautious too!

DRL is Daytime Running Lamps. You can see these in costly cars. This is used mostly to alert the vehicle in Front. RTR 180 has DRL i think. In Malaysia it is a rule that one should ride with headlight on all the time.

Very useful information!.. I thought RVMs cause problems while overtaking at corners/ there's risk of RVMs hitting other bikes. I'm gonna to put them back on my bike tomorrow!

I heard of one term at 2 wheeler driving training session,

On highway we should n't fall for highway hypnosis, a state of sleepiness caused by constant staring of straight road ahead without any noticeable movement. You can easily identify if you was victim of Highway hypnosis when a sudden vehicle movement near you( either overtaking/being overtaken), change of lanes etc surprises you you/shock you you are in hypnosis state where our minds are not alert but very relaxed.

So always change the view by regulalry see your RVM side roads and other happenings around. and keep busy.

Re: What I do to be a safe rider?

I understand my ride better and so I always ride in the safe yet comfort zone where I have the bike in my best control as far as possible.
                          Yes helmet is default.
I do not use gloves for short city rides which is what I do most of the time.
I check out for signal from considerable distance and reduce speed proportionately.
Finally, if I take my car out for a long drive I make a point to sleep properly while everybody in the house do the packing.

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.

It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well
and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.
