Wonderful write-up indeed.loved your previous review of K1300R and loved this one even more.enjoyed reading every single word that clearly depicted the excitement behind them.
And as you rightly said "looks grow on you"...your review is what actually made me realise and appreciate the beauty of S1000RR!

    cheers.

I liked the photos as well. They give a clear view of the bike rather than from some weird angle.

I keep wondering if i will ever get a chance to saddle up a S1000RR. especially having zero access to anything beyond 220 CCs. Hope i do though.
      Thanks for the appreciation.

If you want to see and know what it feels like, you can just go to the showroom and ask for the person looking after BMW Motorrad. He will let you have the keys, sit on it, start it and rev it! Even that is worth the experience.

Ken, You make this BMW sound like a mistress (all the benifits of a wife (other SBKs) without the distress )

BTW one thing is that if it is priced on Par with the likes of other superbikes outside why is it almost a million rupees costlier here

That is an issue even Munich is perplexed about. And it is NOT dealer margin.

Frankly speaking, I was not much aware of the bike. I just knew that a bike from BMW names S1000RR existed but after reading your article I am like blown off. Yes, at first it looks ugly as we are used to seeing symmetrical objects but it really grows up to you gradually. May be BLACK will look a KILLER. WOW!! Thanks a ton da!! Is it so so easy to ride?? After reading your feedback it looks like!
May be they don't every guy to own this beautiful machine & has thus priced higher. Exclusivity will prevail

kenda, if we consider the huge price gap between the 'regular' sbk's and this, would you still rate it as the best sbk money can buy today? Asking this cos most of the phoreign reviewers dont have to consider the cost factor of these bikes as they cost pretty much the same.
Also how much of a boon are the electronic aid? How would the s1000rr stand aganist its competition without its electronics? can you give a comparison in terms of your r1

@ Ken da: Wonderful machine and ofcourse a wonderful experience Ken da! However, I have a doubt about the machine..

If you are aware, Aprilia has incorporated a lot of electronic gizmos to it's APRC edition and it made RSV series almost invincible. The question is even if we do not have luxury of all the gizmos on S1000RR, will it still be able to retain it's title for best superbike??

I'm confused because we already have CBR1000RR for handling, RSV4 for electronis and Ducati for track experience. Your article throws an impression that all these things has been merged into S1000RR which seems to me a bit sceptical.

Please don't mind Ken da if I'm portraying myself as an stupid here. It's just that I've never ridden any of them except the 1198 S and all my knowledge is based upon the facts and figures with the reviews.

Last thing is, how far the price for this bike is justfied when we can get a world champion bike like Aprilia, Ducati within the same range??

It is quite simple actually. A bike should be viewed as a whole and not as bits and pieces. I cannot say that the I like the headlights of the R1, the swingarm of the Ducati, the engine of the BMW, the chassis of the R6 and the tank of the Honda! The BMW is the most complete and easiest to ride Sbk so far. When they first launched end 2009, they changed Sbk manufacturing forever. If they have been winning BOTY awards for 2 years in a row, there must be a good reason for it.

That said, let me tell you one more thing. You have the choice of riding the S1000RR by turning off all the electronics. I rode the bike by turning off Traction control and wheelie control. Believe me, it remains undoubtedly the best handler in Sbks that I have ridden till date. You are talking about my R1? Nothing even comes close to this lovely machine! My R1 feels like it was made in the stone age!!!

Even MotoGP is all about electronics. It's the riders which makes the difference. Ofcourse there is the option of rurning off all the electronic assistance. It seems this is more of an MotoGP machine rather than normal street SBK, right da?

Seems yes. But since I have never ridden a MotoGP bike, I cannot really make the comparison.

                          Sorry about that!

Ken, lovely write up with some great photos. The BMW is a game changer indeed. But I somehow feel it lacks the soul that an R1 or the new Kwacker has. This one does everything and without complaints, day in and day out.

Of course, the price is also a major deterrent as well.

Hi Ken, I have one question. How does the bike feel over a period of long ride compared to the japanese competition? Is that riding position more aggresive than Japanese sportbikes?
