Hyundai spares and service is expensive when compared to maruthi.I own i10 and it is surprisingly expensive for such a small car.Originally posted by rollno.∞ View Post"Vibes transmitted from crank shaft to frame, then through the bearings of the head stock and into the stem where it meets the triple clamp and into the clip-ons where it is greeted with great pleasure by my hands"-ratfighter mod rtr

Re: Cars Owned By Xbhpians......
Guys in regards to my query, I've decided to pickup a swift zxi. I've booked a torque blue zxi as I don't really need features like DRL, keyless entry, start stop button, Bluetooth etc which are expected in the facelift version. The alloys on the current version are also oh so yummy. A discount of 20k coupled with possible increase in price of the facelift makes it more sensible to buy the current version. Is this a correct decision?
It is reported that the production of the facelifted version was started in august itself. Now my question is if I'm given a car that is 2 months old, should I buy it?
Is it acceptable to buy a car that is 2-3 months old from the date of booking(how old is acceptable)? Also if I'm not satisfied, can I transfer my booking to the facelifted version?Last edited by rollno.∞; 10-02-2014, 07:57 PM.

Re: Cars Owned By Xbhpians......
This is what I own.
2008 Chevrolet Optra Magnum LT, being the top end, it has everything which i could ask for.
all 5 alloy wheels
wonderful music system
Moonroof
fog lamps
reverse parking sensors, leather upholstery
smart storage options
cooler glove box etc
Odo: 54500kms
She's a great highway machine, gearing is perfect
the only addon which I've done is Pioneer doubledin touchscreen with reverse night vision camera head unit.
So far, loving it.
before I bought her, alot of people and friends asked me not to go for it as according to them it's really high on maintenance, and and parts are very costy.
As of now, things are other way round. apart from petrol nothing else is stealing my money

Fact is, You can never go wrong with a Swift. The best part is, even the 1st gen Swift commands brilliant resale value even today(if this is your major concern). You seem to be a simple, sedate driver, and not a tech freak. So Swift will keep you happy, with simple, minimalistic feature list. Get one soon. Re: Cars Owned By Xbhpians......
For me it is driving feel over anything else. I chose it because according to me swift, liva sportivo and brio are the only petrol hatchbacks on this side of the brilliant but pricey polo GT and punto 1.4 that are fun to drive. The hyundai i20 has an underwhelming performance in the petrol guise and grand is more of a city car interms of dynamics. And amongst the shortlist, the swift had the best steering, and ride-handling combo.Originally posted by sambit View PostFact is, You can never go wrong with a Swift. Things like DRL, keyless entry, start stop button are just gimmicks. Though I would love to have 60:40 split seats and electric mirrors. But possible 30k diff is hard to ignore.
Can you advice me on this part.Originally posted by rollno.∞ View PostINow my question is if I'm given a car that is 2 months old, should I buy it?

What gimmick according to you, might be decision making for others(As I said, Tech freaks).Originally posted by rollno.∞ View PostFor me it is driving feel over anything else. And About your question, you yourself said that those are gimmicks, then I find no reason, why you should not go for the old model? A 2-3 months old stock is no big deal. If you are buying slow selling cars like Polo, Ritz, Brio, Etios are normally stocked for 4-5 months before they sold. So, nothing to worry about that.HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

Re: Cars Owned By Xbhpians......
Been driving an esteem 1.3 mpfi lately along with a vento 1.6 diesel.... thats at home... though the vento has a lot of grunt once the turbo spools up its not as versatile as an esteem... also esteem has very nimble handling and amazing steering feedback....from the hydraulic steering.... vs the ventos eps....plus I love the linear power delivery the smoothness the reliability and the high revving nature of my esteem.... on a drag race the vento will winn.. but on a track the esteem will make it cry! Plus the vebto gives me 10 to 14 kmp diesel! And the esteem 10 to 13 kmpl petrol in kolkata traffic! The esteem is far more reliable but not as solidly built as a vento... plus the esteem has a very low and sporty steering..i love it.... whereas my mom hates it... plus it has a weak ac and rubbish headlights..
Any suggestions for an esteem replacement? The only option I have left is the highly underrated ford classic aka old fiesta 1.6 duratec petrol 100bhp bmw like handling... grips like a leach and corners like a lizard.. amazing feedback from one of the last few hydraulic power steerings... good build and a cheap price tag... amazing ehh?
anyone looking out for a petrol car look at the ford classic 1.6 100bho will give you 10kmpl easy... and parts are not as costly as deemed plus its easy on pocket and very reliable.

Re: Cars Owned By Xbhpians......
Just got a call from the dealer confirming that the facelift is going to be launched. No word on the pricing front though. So now I have the option of buying a car that is in the stock yards which was manufactured in June 2014 or wait for the facelift. The features that I find appealing on the facelift is the possible inclusion of Bluetooth and split seats. Confusion ensues.Originally posted by sambit View PostWhat gimmick according to you, might be decision making for others(As I said, Tech freaks).

Re: Cars Owned By Xbhpians......
In cases where you are confused with 2 options....opt the third! my 2 cents.... go test drive a figo petrol 1.2 and a vw polo 1.2 petrol comfortline(middle variant) the figo will handle like its from 2 segments up and is exceptionally reliable too... it you want a car thats not very powerful but handles like a dream? this is it... figo is the r15 of the car world... lots of fun..has a v big booth for a hatch and is loaded too. build is better than the hundais toyotas and marutis(my fav brand) and the chevys...but not in the league of the germans...Originally posted by rollno.∞ View PostJust got a call from the dealer confirming that the facelift is going to be launched. A polo comfortline is waht you need if you dont want to spend on the top highline variant... a very capable chassis and a grunty sounding engine....not the most power hatch with the 1.2 liter petrol 3 cylinder motor....but sounds good under hard acceleration... and tap the panels glass etc and close the door with a thud. you will know why german build quality is impeccable...this is the rtr 180 of the car world....with a few enfield characters
