All are superb. The best ones are on the top. You need to have a liking for westerns to enjoy them. I downloaded Blu-ray rips of all these movies. Sorry, online, I don't know where you can watch.Originally posted by lovish View PostLooks awesome... which of these were best and are available online ??

Aargee, I have downloaded almost all the top 250 movies from IMDB (all blu-ray rips). I have watched most of them. I also downloaded good movies by genre. Sometimes, I selected movies by favorite actor, favorite director.Originally posted by aargee View PostAwesome, awesome, awesome sir; just while I was thinking who could suggest some old movies...bingo!!! here we go!!!

I have watched all movies of Akira Kurosawa, except Ikiru (still downloading the blu-ray rip of it); all movies by Sergio Leone, most of the movies by Stanley Kubrick; most of the movies by Francis Ford Coppola, most of the westerns by John Ford; all movies by Christopher Nolan, Roman Polanski, etc.
I can talk at length if you want by movies.
If you haven't watched, watch "North by North West" and "High Noon". I am sure you will love them.
I watch all the movies with subtitles. Without subtitles, the old westerns are difficult to understand.

Add 'The Great Escape' to your must see list, if you haven't seen it already. It came out in 1963 and stars the legendary Steve McQueen along with other great actors. It's set in WW2 setting and is based on a real life incident where allied forces prisoners escaped in big numbers from a nazi prison camp.
It's a long movie around 3 hours. Most part of the movie involves strategic talks among prisoners/officers. Must be heard and seen patiently. Just fantastic!Last edited by Satellite.kid; 06-27-2012, 09:42 PM.The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

No apologies please and no 'Sir' please.Originally posted by aargee View PostRavi Sir - My apologies & my respects to you sir

Hope you have watched the movie 'The Artist'. Its with no dilagues, but the acting is awesome.
DISTRICT 9 is a different perception of aliens. Amazing movie. Hope they are making a sequence to it. Where Eagles Dare and Guns of Navarone are good spy thrillers; these movies are driven by drama more than action, unlike current movies.Originally posted by psr View PostAargee good list ..add the following also to it..

I would assume that it has been seen...but since it hasn't been mentioned in the recent posts, please watch 'The Shawshank Redemption'. This is truly one of the greatest movies ever made and the ending is often been hailed as the greatest ending. The performances of Tim Robbins and especially Morgan Freeman are breathtaking. Especially the way Freeman's character builds up by the end of the movie is great. The Chronicles of Motorcycling - The Man, The Machine and The Road

Yes sir, I saw the Clockwork Orange very recently. I initially got a mixed opinion as I expected something different. But, Kubrick is a genius to come up with such a movie in 70s. I am sure, even now, many people won't understand it. I am yet to watch 2001 Space Odyssey.Originally posted by psr View PostDid you see Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange ?..None could understand it...it was much advanced for it's time...just like 2001 Space odyssey....

So far, I haven't touched any TV series. I still have many movies to watch. Once I am done with those, I will look into these.

Don't miss 2001 space odyssey..It was taken at a time when man had not walked in space...and here Kubrick depicts future colonies on the Moon and Space stations, and ofcourse man walking in space..I saw the movie in the 70s and the concept gave me goose pimples...still my favourite..Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostYes sir, I saw the Clockwork Orange very recently. Yes, its one gem of a movie.
Especially the use of "Blue Danube" is exceptional....Kubrick made the table top sets with unbelievable realism, and he could visualize space, zero gravity, space walk etc...He destroyed the sets after filming, because he did not want a sequel..Last edited by psr; 06-27-2012, 11:05 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.
