@RedApple: The American system will not work in India. Simply because, the amount of subsidy on fuel is enormous. In India, even the little subsidy on diesel is sending the public oil companies into a spin. It is due to this heavy subsidy in America, that the situation has resulted into almost negligible public transport system. This is one of the reasons for America's demand for oil (and wars).

I think this is an excellent time to consider electric vehicles for moving around in the city. Reva owners would be laughing away!

Yeah its covered under ESMA. Oil cos did invoke the ESMA but even then no-one turned up for work.

Not to mention the amount of fuel consumed by America. 7.5 times more than India per day.

Do you need proof that America is the largest consumer of energy? And that the gulf war was for everything but righteousness?

U can get this info if u dig a little deeper on the internet. Perhaps u could use scholar and u'll get a multitude of research articles and books.

Guessing the situation well before, on Monday I filled my car and bike to brim. Now my bike has around 8 liters left and car 35 liters, so that would do for another 10 days.

Yesterday, I found the Essar petrol pump in Gachibowli working and stood in line to fill the full tank, but when my turn came I found my wallet missing (left at home).

For anything there are so many theories and analysis which exist.You can also find conspiracy theories about US not landing on the moon.If you can find an official statement where it is said they did it for oil then please go ahead and post the source.Otherwise please don't post what you analyse or suspect or what you found on the internet or in a so called research article.

Conspiracy theories are not research articles. Research articles are only published after significant peer review has been done from all over the world which usually takes over a year BEFORE getting published. Research articles are not like usual magazine articles which you and I can write.

If u check scholar.google.com, u'll end up with many articles from Springer, Emerald, Proquest, or some University research arm. These are not conspiracy theories, but legitimate articles published by researchers.

These are very different from "white papers" which anyone in a company can write about, or magazine, which anyone with a flair for writing can write.
