when we are the receiving end we crib about these...but when the time comes and u decide to strike then u wont care about the people getting affected...Originally posted by haxor View Postthese strikes are totally anti-national why does the govt just ban these organisation who do whatever they want and the public is the only sufferer here. They don't think about the public. These wont matter to me as i have a eco-friendly ride with me[i.e. a Bicylcle
] but still its pathetic to see these incidents :X .But I am also feeling sorry for myself as i have to go to school on monday ....or it would have been and holiday for me!!

i can relate becoz when had a strike to protest for better security for doctors every one was against ad it went to the point of hauling us to jail under ESMA but the truth is for months prior to the strike we had been requesting for facilities where when i treat a patient i dont have to worry for my own life. then when thing begin to go out of hand we had to do something to show that we are serious about our request.. .im not justifying or condoning the incident but a strike is something that is not done overnight for kicks it is planned and a deliberate affair..
not criticizing but just making a point for the benefit of those who think the rest of the world doesnt have problems...Why is the man who invests all your money, called a broker?

Oh yay the strike is over! @prajwal: i did some back reading on the subject and i found out that the us government is giving "subsidies" to big oil..but not in the traditional sense. Its more like incentives, tax breaks, etc. I dunno if the govt has actually given hard money but im sure it has. Gas is cheap..but not that cheap...example: its 10 cents/gallon down in venuzuela. What is interesting though..is that every station in the us..has the exact cost of one gallon broken down by the various taxes on that one gallon of gas. The oil lobby is prolly the biggest in washington and as a result of that, clean energy and mass transit legislature suffers.

@RedApple... so u finally r learning the facts... good
@Harsha, I am with you here...
Guys, have you read the list of demands and reasons for the strike by truckers? Please go through it again. They are very genuine reasons. Above all, the government had promised to resolve the same issues an year back, issued GO's on some, but no action so far towards the promises, issue you notices to clear dues where in that payment itself is not needed as per the GO's. Just think for a minute.
Now, try to understand what I meant instead of trying to pull me on one odd word of mine that might not be accurate.

1.Price of the diesel should be reduced by rs 10/l
2.Moratorium on collection of toll for period of 6 months ..
3.Abolition of service tax on goods transport agency and their sub contractors
4.Reduction in price of tyres by 35%

Yesterday, I filled in 2 litres of petrol which I had lying around in cans at home, then headed out hunting for petrol. I was told that Shell, Mysore Road (bangalore) & HP, Hoskerehalli (bangalore) were the nearest operational bunks close to my house. Well, they were either closed of out of petrol, so wasted 12 kms there....then headed out to HP on Outer Ring Road Jayanagar, where I stood in line for 1 hour 45 mins to get petrol.
The delay was actually caused by a tanker filling up the fuel bunk. Finally when the guys started giving out petrol, the rush was so much that I abandoned the idea of tanking up from there for fear of somone scratching my bike.
Just to discover that the BP bunk a few kms ahead was giving fuel and that too with hardly any crowd.
So total time spent in getting fuel yesterday 2.5 hours......I guess it should be normalized today!

I still saw a couple of "No Stock" boards in 2 bunks nearby.
Prajwal
The Shell bunk on Old Madras rd was out of stock but the crowds have reduced greatly at HP, BP and IOC bunks. Its better to try in bunks inside residential areas away from major roads.

Still lots of bunks were out of fuel here. But the crowds have greatly reduced. Went at 5 AM today morning and tanked up my R15. That should stand for another 3 or so weeks
P.S: No premium fuel though, only ordinary fuel.Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.

JAI HO BABA RAMBO KI JAI!
first of all besides the strike there is some other reason also for shortage no pump will stock MS or HSD as there will be shortly a price fall and who will take the loss.
and now about the strike one thing i can tell there is very less amount of engineer and officials (from some reputed institution )who have come to serve for these companies because of low salary respect to other private companies and think without good (intelligent)workers what will happaen to these organisations.
and about price just search for how much subsidy is given for LPG and all those things which is all governed by our minstry.
one more thing i did not knew our officers get that much salary.
and we had to work in three shifts without a leave for any holydays like puja new year and any thing else.
IOCL have decided to carry on despatch today in sunday also to fulfill the shortage of supply.
