  • Bad Crash on Karizma

Thank God I don't own a Karizma. Why? Read on to know about it.

It was a very unfortunate Wednesday for me. My sir had given me his karizma to get teflon coating done to it. I was taking it to the service center and it started raining. I almost reached the service center and had to take a u-turn. I was at 40 kmph. Just as I applied brakes the bike started skidding, I tried to control it but couldn't do it and the bike hit the road divider. I was thrown off from the bike and fell a few metres away. The passers by gathered and took the bike aside. The front fairing of the bike was totally gone. My left foot and knee were bleeding badly. I had bruises all over my left arm. Thank God, I was wearing a helmet at that time. My helmet had got a good number of scratches. One guy tied his handkerchief on my foot and people advised me to get the dressing done to my wounds. I took an auto and went to a clinic nearby.

Got the wounds dressed up and came back to the spot of the accident in a Mahindra pick-up. The guys present there helped in loading the bike and I went to the service center and called up my sir. While I was waiting for him, I met ketan(xBHp id: ketansrihas) who had come there for some spare parts for his bike. He sat with me there till my sir came. He also explained the route to my sir. Many thanks to him and xBhp for this. I recognized him by seeing a sticker of xBhp.com on his bike's rear mudguard.

The svc guys made an estimation of the cost of repairs and I was shocked to see that it was around Rs. 32500. Now I understood that karizma's fall is really heavy on the pocket. There were multiple damages to the bike. The front fairing broke completely, the speedometer console came off, the front mudguard broke, there was a crack on one of the front shocks, the disc brake and its setup had to be replaced, the saree guard was bent, the handlebar was twisted, the front tyre rim was totally damaged, the gear lever was bent.

We left the bike there and started for my home. On the way, my sir suggested that we should go to a hospital and show them the wounds. So we went to a hospital near my home. I couldn't even walk and had to use a wheelchair. The doctor removed the dressing and said that the wounds were very deep and it needed a plastic surgery. The bone was visible at the foot. Another conclusion which I made was that karizma's fall is heavy on the person too.

The doctor said that they didn't have a plastic surgeon so I went to another hospital as advised by the doctor. Went to the other hospital, they took x-ray of my leg and took my blood sample. The plastic surgeon said that I couldn't be operated at that time since it was 12am and they didn't have facilities at that time.

Reached home at 2am and went to the hospital the next day. I was admitted into the hospital and the doctor carried out the surgery. It was a painful hour. After the surgery the doctor told me that I need complete bed rest for 3 days. He gave me an option of staying at the hospital or going home. I chose to go home and now I am typing this from my home lying on my bed. I had to cough up another 21000 bucks for the surgery. But the good thing is that I didn't get any serious injuries.

One advise to all the Karizma owners.
Please get a crash guard fitted on your bikes.

If karizma had a crash guard I wouldn't have been hurt that badly and the damages to the bike would also have been less. I fell once from my bike at the same speed, but the crash guard saved me and I had very less injuries.

I'll have to miss college for 3 weeks. Guys please pray for my speedy recovery.

Sorry for what happened. I hope you have a speedy recovery. I also hope that you have insurance to pay your bills.

On a side note, I do not really feel that it is a trouble with the bike be it Zma or RTR or Pulsar or a CBR1000RR. Accidents happen to all of us. Yes it is true that the Zma carries a heftier bill and Zmas do not carry a crash guard.

Wishing you a speedy recovery once again.

Edited the title thread as it can be misleading!

On a bad day, Even a fall from bicycle can be fatal. . So its not with Karizma or any other bike.

If this has to happen then I had to Thank R15, Xtreme also. , Where as I never had any incident with my RX135 which has only a rear brake and skiddy tire.

Its ture that..If ZMA falls...its going to be heavy on pocket.

      Recover soon...!

Ohh My God! Wish you a speedy recovery!

The main thing is that even if you are riding a hayabusa or a CD100,you have to ride carefully and (slowly),In India and specially during the monsoon,as you know the bike may not be solely responsible, the quality of roads and many other factors do matter in these cases,as you know most of the roads are made with Bad quality of asphalt,As you know the Corrupt contractors do use low quality materials!

And buddy I also must say that while making a U-turn at 40 kmph and that also in rainy conditions is a very dangerous gamble for which you had to pay dearly!

Really sorry to hear about this bro. Hope you get well soon.

But am really thinking about the damages you mentioned. Are you sure you were just at 40 kmph, am doubtful!
Anyways its not about ZMA or any bike, its about how much you know the bike. Coz am sure any guy owning & riding any 150 cc lightweight bike, wont be able to properly handle a ZMA or a P220 in any panic situation.
Same thing happned with me while cornering on Cosgeo's Uni on some ghat.
ZMA to Uni weight diffrence played a big role there...
Thats just the case happned with you I guess.

ZMA's plastic is damn good n it hardly got scratched/broken when I had a fall @ 120 kmph on Mumbai-Pune Expressway, luckily damage was about a 1000 bucks only. Seriously Rs.32500... Am still wondering how the bike must had looked after the crash!

            Anyways Get well soon buddy.

glad that it did not hurt your knee bone

my cousin hurt his knee cap ... recovered but lost some mobility
have seen cases of this ...

so thank goodness and your lucky that it was more of a cosmetic thing

i would request all friends to wear knee and elbow guard even if they go for small rides
these 4 bones are the most prone to be hurt when we crash

              wish you speedy recovery

Wish u a speedy recovery moeed. I was reading a similar topic just few days back in the Zma community of Orkut. And yes, crash guard is very vital, looks are secondary.

                          Hey Moeed,

Sorry for your fall man, I guess the wounds are hurting much. I was shocked to read this as i just completed reading your maharastra sprint thread. Anyways get well soon. I would advice that any upgrade in power of you bike should be taken cautiously.
