Ouch, this is tough. Get well soon, Moeed.

Seems like a freak accident for you to suffer such injuries, never mind the bike. I hope insurance cover exists.

I hope so, otherwise it would be very very bad for the owner.

              Crash guards

Well first of all I wish you a speedy recovery.
And that was a lot of damage done just at 40 kmph. Sorry for that.

Please get a crash guard fitted on your bikes.

Not just ZMA but crash guards are mandatory for all bikes IMO. It saves a lot for a small amount we pay.
I too have such experience to share.

              Well here it goes,
I was on my Uni ani i overtook a scooty infront of me (i too was around 40kmph then). Then suddenly i happened to encounter a downhill with a sharp left turn. As i had just overtaken, I was trying to get back to my lane so i just touched the rear break lever (the turn was sharp, what could i do???) and BAM, i could feel the rear tyre slip and me and my bike took a good slide of around 10 metres. I was shocked and confused....this never happened before.
Later found out I was riding on a layer of DIESEL spilled by some stupid vehicle...
Coming back to the point, the crashguard saved me and my bike's life...I just had some wounds here and there and a deep one at the knees (could have been more serious without the guard). When i took a look at the crashed bike I had a BIG SMILE on my face...There was not even a single scratch on my Uni's body. Although, the clutch lever got bent and had a small scratch on its side, the gear lever got bent by a small angle, and the saree guard had some scratches but the body was untouched. The reason, "the crash guard broke the fall". It was bent like hell and had gotten loose. It left a mark all the way we fell on the road. There were white marks from the point of origin of the fall upto the point we stopped.

Well the conclusion of my babbling is, please get a crash guard installed on your ride. It is a lifesaver (sometimes )

Wish you a speedy recovery again mate.

And, I seriously doubt it was 40 kmph when he skidded. I crashed four times at around 40 kmph and never ever got the repairs more than 3000 bucks. Damage to such an extent is really happens only at high speeds.

And I am sure that you were not able to control the bike. You are yet to learn to handle a big bike. I still do not understand how you took an u-turn at 40 kmph in rain? Karizma has big turning radius and taking an u-turn at 40 is very very risky on wet patch.

But, I am still not able to believe the amount of damage to the bike.

Okay i will clear the doubt as i had seen the estimation by Mech.
                1. odo : 6500
                2. Alloy 7000 approx
                3. there will be a black part which controls the disc it cost 1200 (i donno the part name i use drum brake in my bike )

These are the things at high cost and other misc (long list)of 15K hmm its expensive

These SC guys made my bike hell. They are having the part and they are not fitting it and i have to do pradakshan to SC for 3days. While servicing they broke the tappet engine oil screw. After a long blah blah they admitted the damage. And he whispered into the spare parts guy to say no the part which they gonna replace (CBZ's) i use amby.

You did a good thing not giving your bike there.

                Get well soon buddy

Its ture that..If ZMA falls...its going to be heavy on pocket.

and yes you are right, even a fall from bicycle can be fatal, i remember last year when i was keeping my servent's bicycle aside i slipped in my own house and got a fracture in my hand which resulted in small operation...

YOU ARE STILL THE BEST TOURER IN XBHP HYD
dude .. i guess its not about zma .. i mean YES i totally agree that a bike should have a crash guard but

when i met a accident at 110+kmph on a divider because some biker pushed me .
i just got cuts in my knee , hands , and shoulder ..not deep at all ..
but i guess i fell on my head coz the helmet had a billion tattoos

its just how you fall ,where you fall and to a limit with which bike you fall

ps- maybe i got less cuts because i was wearing a normal jacket , jeans ??
