i meant college friends,. tvm xBhpians are caring and good.Originally posted by aargee View PostOk, so what is your point? What support you need? Pls...don't say, xBhp has to sing...
Rain rain go away,
come again another day,
little Jerrin wants to ride
rain, rain go away
Two answers...
1. Ever heard a sentence - BE YOURSELF? Keep walking!!!
2. Ask yourself - What might be the problem? Think over, if all of them curses, the issue can't be with everyone...atleast friends (incl TVM xBhpians)
Thanks bro.Originally posted by ZMAtic View PostYou are not only one here ! And as i see, you aint the most unfortunate biker. We all are starved of better bikes, roads, fuel and all.
Firstly you own a 200+ cc bike, which in itself is a premier bike. Most people here come with a meagre budget and ask for suggestion on a mileage oriented bike.
There are people on xbhp, middle aged, who've been doing tours with their better halves with half of your engine capacitys bikes. And happily too.
Secondly you still are a student, Will grow gradually with finances, will earn soon enough to buy a ZMA in a month's paycheck. Things change dude, stay tough. You are being too broken for a biker.
Being biker means enjoying the ride, whichever it is. You may have bought wrong ride in first place. I'll suggest take the things in Priorotized manner and make the things in the Reality perspective.
You should search and read this R1 thread

Ok bro. college friends can be ignored , but parents? I love so much to ride my bike. Everyday newspaper accident reports make them feel scared. They dont believe in me. So even if i wish so much to go and what all i say about safe riding, they wont allow. I feel helpless.Originally posted by aargee View PostHeard something called "IGNORE"?

Its like most of the parents wont support touring in bike. Initially, my mom was against touring in car itself. U should show them that u ride safe while biking and gain trust. IF still they persist u not to tour, then ignore them. My friends all said to me that touring in bike is not at all good. People always complain. Some might say for the good of us and some might not. Its you who should decide wat to do!

Well, parents are parents no matter how much you try to convince them. They are always worried about you even if you have a family and a child. My mother is always worried about even my short trip of 100 kms. But like many said the only way to make them comfy is by calling them or sms them every 2 hrs atleast. I am 33 now still I am her baby and will be till the end. But the scenario is different with my father, he just say ride safe. Cheers

I have been started riding chetak since the age of 14 years in my native place. My mother opposed the idea of buying/driving the bike in Hyd traffic even when i am in Degree/PG course. For short rides also they don't allowed me to go alone on bike
.
Finally i purchased my bike in 2010 @ mumbai. When i got transfer from mumbai to hyderabad in 2011, I planned to go by riding bike instead of sending bike through train. I am in dilemma of informing this about to my parents, but finally informed. Surprisingly my father said OK to the ride
(may be the maturity he seen in my thinking and riding).
I have done solo trip from mumbai to HYD safely and successfully. I have called them thrice on the trip when i had taken a break. I am very happy but my friends and relatives everyone is surprised by the My Dad's approval
. After this trip i have done more than 3 trips in the same year, so now they are get used to my rides.
The point is Without the approval of parents we can do riding but you can't fully enjoy the trip. So try to convince your parents before doing trips.

How to answer elders on biking/why bike ride
Hi All
Starting this thread as we come across lot of awkward questions from family/relatives on why bike rides and why not public transport or car.
We face this question when the topic of long ride on bike comes up.. For example, after my last Ooty ride, I got lot of why bike? it is dangerous should have taken car.. you youngsters have no responsibility.. etc etc.. and what not.
:banghead:
So what should the ideal way to reply? You cant say I love bike and I will continue as it will be termed rude and you will be projected as badass.. :banghead: Nor can you make them understand the feeling of flying with the wind on a bike opposed to being caged on 4 wheels with some music on..
Any suggestions will benifit many of us.
Mods: please merge if this thread or something similar exists, I couldnot find anything on this so I am starting this.

Re: How to answer elders on biking/why bike ride
Tell them it saves a lot of fuel than the car. Its one of the best reasons, that I told to all my relatives and parents. My dad never even opposed to going in bike since he can save moneyOriginally posted by jeevan.life View PostHi All

My uncle told me that Im smart when I went to my native because I saved a lot of money. (Again money conscious)
Bike can be easily parked anywhere.
You can avoid caught up in traffic if there is during your journey.
Especially, if its a hill journey, they say its dangerous because of a lot of curves and it rains mostly. But you have to take up the ride atleast once to make them convince.
Before 5 years, I usually travel long trips only in car. I miss a lot of things because I will travel fast. But since for the past one year, during bike travel, I see a lot of things that I missed while traveling in car.
P.S: Be safe and responsible while driving. There is a tendency to drive like anything in highways since its free! Animals are the biggest concern in highwaysLast edited by mulli84; 09-09-2013, 02:21 PM.Sometimes you gotta run before you can walk ! - Tony Stark
