@ rahul : gaming capability of HD 4570 is more than HD 4530 ( refer : Notebookcheck: Computer Games on Laptop Graphic Cards ), but as you are not a serious gamer, it won't really make a difference. moreover the 3rd option seems lighter than the 1st and 2nd option so it would be more comfortable to carry it anywhere.

moreover the turbo boost will increase the clock speed of only one core up-to 2.8 GHz and not all the four cores of i7.

so in a way the 3rd option seems viable and worth the money... the other systems are also fine but they seem expensive to me according to your usage.

    Help with Laptop Purchase

    Hi Fellas.
Iam going to buy a laptop soon. Still havent finalised when. But soon.
I have shortlisted my needs and configured 3 different laptops. Both are from Dell. The reason for choosing Dell is better customer service and complete accident cover package.

    Option 1:
    Black color
    Intel Core i7-720QM 1.6Ghz (Turbo upto 2.8Ghz)
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    15.6" 720p WLED 1366*768
    4 GB (2x2GB) 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM
    500GB 5400 RPM HDD
    Internal DVD Writer
    512MB ATI Radeon HD 4570
    Intel WiFi Link 5300
    6 Cell Battery
    Backlit Keyboard
    3 Years Complete Cover

    Cost- 69000 excluding delivery charges

    Option 2:
    Black color
    Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    15.6" 720p WLED 1366*768
    4 GB (2x2GB) 800Mhz DDR2 RAM
    500GB 5400 RPM HDD
    Slot Load DVD Writer
    512MB ATI Radeon HD 4570
    Intel WiFi Link 5100
    6 Cell Battery
    Backlit Keyboard
    3 Years Complete Cover

    Cost- 64000 excluding delivery charges

    Option 3:
    Black color
    Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    14" 720p WLED 1366*768
    4 GB (2x2GB) 1066Mhz DDR3 RAM
    500GB 5400 RPM HDD
    Internal DVD Writer
    512MB ATI Radeon HD 4530
    Intel WiFi Link 5100
    6 Cell Battery
    Backlit Keyboard
    3 Years Complete Cover

    Cost- 59600 excluding delivery charges

Here we go. These are the quick configurations at a glance. Almost every other thing remains same except the above differences.
Looking at the above configurations which of the following would be true VFM? Please dont advice me some other configurations or brands. I have shortlisted these three.
I need a good multimedia laptop. I will carry it everywhere. Most of the work would be data storage, browsing, seeing movies, playing a few songs and playing games at times. Iam NOT a serious gamer.
I want to know the gaming capability of option 3. Option 1 & 2 have same graphics cards. Option 1 has the advantage of Core i7 processor & DDR3 Memory. Option 3 has DDR3 RAM.
Iam really confused. My budget is 70k including delivery though it can be extended if the purchase is worth it.
    Kindly assist.

    It's..
    AMD PHENOM ll X4 prosessor..
    Equivalent to
    Intel Core 2 Quad..

But AMD are bit cheaper with same spec's and support.

    Same for ATI..
It score's better than NV [not all GPU] in same buck's.

That's exactly what happenned to my PC few months ago and is still happenning!!
Never tried to rectify it though, because had to get a new RIG soon.

Built a new system for a friend a few days back with a tight budget of around 17K...he had an existing 17" CRT:

    Athlon II X2 240
Gigabyte M61PME Mbd with nforce 430 chipset (sowhat?)
    2 GB DDR2 ram @ 800 MHz
Mron PSU 600W (we don't do Corsair on budget you see)
    XFX Geforce 9600 GT (Yeah!)
    Vanilla 500 GB HDD

...and this system is good for Crysis at Medium-High settings at 1280X800.
Can max out all games at 1024X768 (ya with AA too).
Not bad for a 17K system. Reinforces the view: when gaming, invest in the GPU!

    @nightwing,
Well, i downloaded the benchmark utility for RE5! Results were quite good. And yep, it would be my first Resident Evil game ever. By the way, are controls too complex to play with keyboard or mouse? And even if it is, then how many keys are involved?? Anything more than 7-8 keys is gonna make me go mad!
And many thanx for sharing the info.

    I need some urgent help..

I recently bought a new Laptop.. It was delivered at my place just a couple of days ago. I have already sold my desktop to a friend of mine and am just waiting for my data to be transfered on my laptop.

    The problem I have is..

I bought my desktop in 2003 and since then there was no major prob with it. Some days ago, when I started my pc it didn't boot up normally. It asked me to press 'F2' key to let take the normal settings to boot up. Once the computer had started I noticed that the date had rolled back to some day in 2003. I changed the date setting and used the pc. Everything else was normal.

After that day, everytime I started the PC, the date rolled back to 2003. And I had to press F2 for the computer to boot up. I showed the prob to my service engineer and he simply changed the battery and the prob was gone. PC used to start normally and the date was also fine.

But after just 9 days of changing the battery, the exact prob reappeared. I started the PC and it didn't boot up. Again it asked me to press F2 to start and then the date was rolled back to 2003. The date remains the same till I leave the power on(even after the PC is shut down). But once I turn the main power button off, the date rolls back.

What can be the problem? Can it be taken care of at home itself? I mean with some simple steps? I am after the system engineer but you know these guys.. He's just not responding...and delaying the work. I need to rectify this prob asap because my friend is waiting for the PC. Kindly put some light on it as to what can be the prob? Is it something to the motherboard? or something else?

Thanx in advance guys and waiting for a reply..

I think playing GTA IV on PC perfectly needs an i5 or i7 chip along with 1792 MB of video RAM. I have a quad core 2.4 with 4GB RAM and 512 MB GeForce 9800 but I cannot move the detail sliders to the max. But still works well on my PC though.
But the game is awesome, I was addicted for many many hours before I finally stopped playing.

Finished with GTA 4 last year Awesome gameplay and pretty extensive too

Quite disappointed with COD MW2. Very short single player mode. Fantastic graphics.

NFS Shift is awesome, except for the drift mode that sucks big time. GRID rocks when it come to drifting.

Trying out Dirt2 right now. Seems to be promising

My config: AMD Quad core 2.2GHz
    4GB RAM
    2TB HDD
    ATI Radeon 4850, 512MB

Hopefully is future proof for atleast one more year
