On the signup form, make checkboxes against each of the rules, atleast people will have to read the rules before joining XHP, because i am sure, none of them have read it, they have simply accepted. There should be a provision of imposing temporary bans, something that prevents the user from posting for next 5 days or so. And these actions should be taken frequently. I am running scared these days, there is a whole bunch of over-informed teenagers on the forum, on each thread, waiting to belittle the opinion of others.
I agreed with his comments ...I myself failed to check rules at the beginning, but after one-two week i found it somewhere & read it. and yes teenagers are Dangerous...

The problem is created by a few ill informed, who with little knowledge assume to have better knowledge than others in a thread.Further compounding the issue is the fact that most young riders are not just lovers, but fanatic of the bikes they own.
It takes knowledge, experience, and an open mind for any one or ...thread to be successful in sharing knowledge, and extend a helping hand to fellow members.
Rules and regulations are meant to be guidelines, and by themselves cannot ensure discipline...Discipline comes from within and is a trained behavior, never enforced.
Seniors should set an example ,and educate the new comers, to make the threads a meaningful place of mutual Trust, comradeship, and sharing...

Well said Ji; most people love or hate a bike not based on the potential of the bike, but based on their circle of acquaintance. If one has a group of friends who own a specific model, even if they don't like it, they stand neutral. But if they can't stand against a few here at online forums, they hate the bike for no reason!!!

+1. Many a times, I had decided to pen a few words on various threads, but looking at the general tendency to simply rubbish views not matching to ones own, has made me refrain myself.

Knowledge grows by sharing, but equally important is the willingness to be open to conflicting views. Willingness to accept that even though one is a hardcore enthusiast, there may be people out there with better knowledge and practical experience. This I have found to be lacking in many threads where people are just bashing up not only the products rivaling their favorite brands but also views of people.

Realised it is better to stay away rather than give unwanted opinions in such threads.

There are a lot more peoples posting as expert on bikes which neither they own nor they tested . Sometime they use offensive language in it , i have reported some of those post but don't found any action taken on it . Even some posts by staff member sound like the same .

I had been challenged by inexperienced members on certain technical aspects,in spite of my repeated submission of facts , and I had to exit the thread ,just to keep the thread clean and free from unwanted posts....

Guys, I respect all bikes, for their specific merits and demerits, and I expect others to do so too. Every bike is special for its owner, and every bike has its merits, and no matter what, it doesn't deserve to be de-famed, specially by non owners.

That said, we have to admit that comparisons are inevitable and if someone says that X bike is better than Y in terms of a, b and c", then we can't remove it unless it is wrong information, or its posted in Y's ownership thread.

So, Members are free to report anything which:

                1. seems biased towards one product in order to disrepute the other. Like a post highlighting all merits of X over Y, but not Y over X.
                2. is wrong information,
                3. defames bikes directly like "XYZ sucks", etc.

For new members, this is the report tab for reporting bad/ insulting posts to staff members:

And, people can give their opinions too, which may or may not be in the light of truth, specially if the member is new. Then, its better to post a 2 liner (just once), correcting the new member's posting inaccuracy. It helps some new guys if they take it positively.

Problem arises not only with new members but also with older ones too....it is the attitude of " Higher Than Thou " and an adamant refusal to see reason or share in any thread, which is un becoming of the members ..

I think the membership 'status' i.e. 'senior member' , 'junior member' etc.. that are decided based on the no. of posts should be done away with. I am sure many users automatically assume 'senior members' (by virtue of the number of posts) are 'highly experienced/technically sound etc etc' and take blindly take their advice.
I suggest the 'status' of 'senior member' should be conferred on users by the mods (graduation ) instead of it being automated based on the no of posts. And conversely, just because a member is 'new' to the forum doesn't make him a 'junior'/'noob' (wrt to biking and related stuff).

Totally agree. and another reason to do away with the automatic grading of 'senior/junior' members. Or atleast change 'junior' to 'new member' and 'senior' to..... any suggestions ??

Go to the talkies section and login.

Select the section where you want to post the query?? Eg. In what bike, help me etc.
Check whether your query has been answered previously.
If not, go the appropriate section. Example, click on help me section and here you will see many threads. On the right hand side just above the threads there is the 'forum tools'. Click on it and select 'new thread'
Now you are ready to post. After posting wait for the modes to approve it. It can take some time. If your thread is approved you can see the thread in the section were its posted!!
                          Hope this helps

                              Hi Jitendra

If you are logged into xBhp, you can post your travelogue, since i see you have posted before and since you have been able to make this post as well, therefore your account is active.

Please visit the travelogue section of the forum and post your ride log there. It will be visible after a moderator approves it.

Let me know if you face any difficulty. Cheers
