Petrol has been stolen off late from the pipe, infact almost every other day. Since i installed the so called lock (for my Victor) - Now they damaged the tank - broke open the lid & steal petrol.Originally posted by Puneet1 View Post

^^ there is, park bike with full tank, take a camera and stake out the area. get it on record, apprehend the guy and involve the cops.
Since its happening recurrently, thats the best way to tackle it.

Complained to Police, Apparently it fell into deaf ears. There is a police officer in the neighborhood, and there is petrol theft even in his own apartment complex!Originally posted by jd666 View Post^^ there is, park bike with full tank, take a camera and stake out the area. get it on record, apprehend the guy and involve the cops.

I have just replaced the petrol tank lid / new lock on the fuel pipe. Getting a new security guard for the apartment sounds more practical than relying on the forces to stop the theif.Photo Gallery[/B]

These irreverent bandits would even never leave these left out petrol... They'll steal whatever they get of their hands on..Originally posted by MT01 View PostNever keep more than a litre in the bike.
And always put the bike in reserve.
The thief will see the reserve and conclude that there is no fuel in the bike.

Hopefully they don't switch to stealing batteries! But is this really something common in India or does it only happen in dodgy areas? Just getting prepared as I'm thinking of renting a bike on my next trip to India...Originally posted by MT01 View PostThen only one solution is possible.
Switch to a electric 2 wheeler.Learn from the mistakes of others. You won't live long enough to make all of them yourself.

@Ganeshan sir, this happens only at specific places, especially where the steeds do not have insecured parking.
Another altenative is getting a bike security alarm system & getting it installed.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

That's very good news... I've heard of petrol thefts here too, on cars but mainly lorries, some long-haul lorries have 600 litre fuel tanks!Originally posted by aargee View Post@Ganeshan sir, this happens only at specific places, especially where the steeds do not have insecured parking.

Damn... petrol theft happened two times on my babe. They even bring along extra tube.Originally posted by Ram1883 View PostYou know those electric fly swatters they sell at signals? Buy one, rip the circuit out and tape it to the underside of your fuel tank. Rig your petrol hose tubing and reserve/main valve with the fine mesh.
.... I would love to try this
and electrify them . I had planned to set up a camera but the petrol thieves are coming at night. I almost caught them the second time but missed by an inch. Two guys came in a CBZ Extreme !! I guess that bike was stolen from some poor guy

Why do they buy bikes when they cant afford petrol.Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

HotAntivirus You can use petrol lock in your bike and from next time try to park your bike in safer place, try parking near guard room or different block of the society,If you don't live in society then try your near by friends house to park your bike for 2-3 weeks...Last edited by zayn; 08-02-2010, 11:56 PM.Ride Safe & Ride Long-->

^^++ I hope Petrol Lock will do the work. I have to park my bike on the space under the stairs, I wish I could get a garage or atleast a night-guard. I always cover my bike then use a worn blanket to camouflage (when the engine & silencer is cold). Sometimes I think that I should use some light chain or nylon ropes with lock to wrap the bike cover so that they cannot easily get reach of the fuel tube. It's really worrying that they can vandalize our bike besides stealing petrol.SPEED-2-LIVE. Never forget that loved ones are waiting for you at sweet home. Ride Safe with FuLLy LoAdeD SaFEty GeaRs.
