well, give your bike 3 level protection--

      level-1) install petrol lock.
level-2) install bike security system with vibration sensor.
level-3) purchase a pen spy camera and put it somewhere in parking (hidden-ofcourse) so that it focuses on bike. simply on it every night, so if first two methods fail you can still get the theif's video and report to police.

i have put iron grill all round my parking and sliding iron gate in front that i lock in night.

put a sticker saying " DIESEL only " in bright vinyl on the tank lid or above the fuel cock! Most idiots will stay away from the trouble of confirming its petrol inside. very effective on enfields .

I think the Indian biking world is ready for an innovation - detachable fuel tanks
No other method will provide foolproof security

                  Tackling Petrol Theft

I had a upset morning today, my impulse's petrol tank was empty when I was rushing for work, had filled it full just yesterday. Is it so hard for the bike designers to come up with a solution for this? The lock on the petrol tank is just a joke, when someone can easily spill it from the gauge and steal it. Btw, my question is, is there a after market fitting which could effectively protect the fuel from thieves?
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).

                    Electrifying Petrol Thieves

My friend is facing petrol theft issue with his bike. Somebody is stealing the petrol in the night time. So instead of filling petrol for huge amount he need to visit the petrol pump everyday for RS 50 to prevent this. His room is on the 3rd floor and there is no security guard for the parking area.

We are planning to electrify the thieves by giving AC power supply to the bikes body. Bike is Bajaj Pulasr 150 CC

                    My questions are,

                    1. Will this harm the bike's electric systems? (Though we will disconnect the battery terminals).
                    2. We need to face any legal problem if the thief got any major injuries?

                    Thanks,
                    Nidin

I have installed CCTV Cameras in my area but still the theft continues. the Thieves try different method now, instead of cutting the pipe they just pull it out and put it back in place once they take out the petrol. I spoke to my trusted mechanic but the best solution i got was petrol lock (i hate it bcoz of extra key) i got it installed. for some bikes Honda Activa fuel pumps can be fitted example Passion & Splendor but not for all. Incase the thieves attempt to open the lid for petrol, i will consider having a mesh installed inside just like in cars that would prevent the tubes from going inside (this would be expensive though as the whole tank might need modifications), i guess there is no 100% guaranteed solution for carburetor bikes, Fuel Injection bikes are safe relatively..
