if it is a recurrent problem, then you need to raise your voice against it, not just take it lying down. get some guys, park some bikes in a cluster in the dark. Keep torches, sticks whatever it needs to take em on. As soon as you see em in the act, first get the proof, then give them some good proof.

Or how about using some steel tubes like this? A custom make one that cannot be cut in between or cannot be opened unless someone has a spanner. The idea is not to protect, but to make the stealers life little difficult so that they find easy preys compared to yours.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Hi aargee,
You are rite.....it happens specific places (Me from chennai too) Will the security system really help here???
I have bought the tap lock but it seems after market and m in dilemma.
Mine was attempted many times even when i cover the bike and fasten the buckle underneath, my neihbours karizma is the victim all the time. Once they had attempted to steal my P200 carb.itself
(it was pulled off from rubber duct n dangling around)
I guess we have met in Chennai G2G- tsunami beach earlier this year.

@Suresh, if they attempt to steal the carbs, then its time to move your vehicle else where to park as that's not a normal sign. Check this out as I'm planning one for my Rx too - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/coffee-l...250r-ebay.htmlSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

i have an idea but this may sound fictional or hard. How about using a fuel lock & connecting a wire behind the fuel pipe such that the wire is connected to an alarm & a battery & not visible normally to the thief. Make the circuit such that if the wire breaks or gets cut then the alarm would sound. If the thief cuts the pipe then even the wire also would get cut & the alarm will sound & you can catch the thief. This is just my idea & not been done any motorcycle.Last edited by madhav krishna; 08-04-2010, 03:32 PM.NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

Hello everyone! This is my first post in XBHP, though I've been a passive reader for long time. I am not sure if it is appropriate to post in an old thread. I've been a victim of petrol theft even at my company (Can you imagine security guards relieving you of your fuel!
).
How about motorcycle manufacturers coming up with auto fuel cocks like the one found in scooters? One drawback would be no manual reserve switch but always you can pay to fix the fuel gauge in case it acts up!

Am surprised, where in chennai does this happen, I usually have full tank and have not used to lock my bike tank lid, this has never happened, will get my lock repaired soon....Originally posted by Ananth View PostComplained to Police, Apparently it fell into deaf ears. There is a police officer in the neighborhood, and there is petrol theft even in his own apartment complex!
I have just replaced the petrol tank lid / new lock on the fuel pipe. Getting a new security guard for the apartment sounds more practical than relying on the forces to stop the theif.Never Give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about.

A week or so back i had few petrol thieves at my place, But i foiled their attempts as i woke up to the noise made by the bike cover. On inspection i was shocked to discover that those idiots had come not to steal petrol but the carburettor

Im not joking ,they had almost pulled 3/4th of the assembly.
One more shocking incident i would like to mention about two wheeler spares theft(though it may not be related to Petrol theft) is that the last time when i had been to take the delivery of my bike from the service station in Vidyaranyapura locality of bangalore. Saw 2 bikes(p180 ug4 and P200).The front assembly, including the speedo console handlebar, stem plate assy,Alloys and fork had been stolen. I was shocked to see theft of such a kind.

Auto cop
dude, i installed a remote lock and alarm system.
this thing raises an high volume alarm by sensing small viberations of touch and maneuvers.
beleive me you have to get a good loud one and it will serve the purpose. We wouldn't need a forum if we all had same opinions, same thoughts, and same bikes..... Enjoy the difference.

Sorry guys for digging out this old topic but I want to know where in Mumbai I can get Fuel lock. Any idea??
Petrol theft is becoming common in my area nowadays and which the fuel prices touching sky the useless buggers will surely get another chance for it.
Because of these thieves I am forced to run my bike on reserve everytime and fill petrol only when it is required. Any fuel lock system which cannot be tampered is required here.
I dont understand if these guys cant afford pertol then why do they purchase bikes in first place.
