I got a doubt, how do you determine that it's time to change engine oil?? is it solely color of the engine oil, which can be seen from glass on engine or is it level of oil? and now a days Bajaj is claiming that engine oil change interval is 5k kms, could you guys let me know what's the one thing we should be checking before going for engine oil change??
You are using very good oil,Engine oil should be changed after certain KM of using it every engine oil has different KM life,The oil should not be used for very long time like some do with Motul 300v.I know its a good oil but everything has its own time, like if I have one chocolate,I can't eat it for ever, some point of time it will be finished... (very bad example),both color and level of the oil should be measured after 1000kms or 20days time,Bajaj 10,000 is good oil but not very good oil like Motul, one thing you should be checking before going for engine oil change? Is the grade that match you bike recommended grade,If your bike is recommended for 20w50 grade go for 20w50 grade only never ever put 20w40 oil into your bike, yes you can put 00w50,05w50,10w50,15w50 oil lesser the

    xx-W-yy

    'xx' number=
Lower the 'xx' number easy for the oil to circulate in engine, means it will flow easily
Higher the 'xx' number difficult for the oil to circulate in engine,it will flow slowly

    ''yy'' number=
Its the viscosity and it is the main thing which is recommended

all the 4stroke oils turn black at 500kms usage only. See the engine's performance if the gears are hard or noisy & if the engine is running rough after a 4-5k kms of usage of the oil then it is the time to change.

BTW AFAIK the oil recommended for p135 is xxw40 right?? Then how are you using wwx50 ??
NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

Thanks for the info, buddy. 20W50 is recommended for P135LS (as per the manual).. that's why I'm using 15W50.

Ok so as far as this DTSi 10K oil is concerned:

It is better than the Bajaj mineral oil (Mak) with the Nano energizer additive that they usually put in. Bike is smoother both at high revs and while puttering around in traffic.

Please keep in mind that I have never used any oil apart from the Bajaj mineral oil so I cannot compare this to Valvoline/Motul/etc.

As for drain interval...well, lets see. Should take me quite a while to rack up more than 3000 kms

I think it is better to know what the Recommended oil contains ( like boron, zinc, phosphor etc) including the quantum of it .This would help in choosing a similar or better oil. Shell have come out with different oils which is worth a look.

I have been using this Bajaj HP oil in my P220 Fi for the past 3200Km and its still going good. I ride hard and fast, change gears almost on redline. Followed the instructions on the can, which advises to top up a bit after so many Km (I did a 50ml topup at 2500Km).

I'm having a good experience with this oil, gear changes are smooth (not butter smooth), the engine sounds as usual, vibes are as usual.

So my verdict is, that the Bajaj HP DTSI oil is a fair value for money. I intend to change next at 4000Km.
