Boric Acid will not dissolve in any oil or petrol...but will in water..so irrespective of oil Boric acid will remain as a suspended particle to be transformed and fixed to moving metal parts, in the presence of water Vapor.replies in bold.Originally posted by nirvaana View Post@PSR thnks for replying. The oil with the mix should remain in engine for at least 1,000 Kms,for it to be effective and get used up.You can add it again in the next oil change also..but the treatment is needed once only,.....till you open engine for some work.but repeating causes no harm in mentioned 20gms level.excess will continue to go around ,and will come out when you drain the oil,and change the oil filter...
Be careful in purity and mixing as these will cause lumps and may hinder oil circulation .The mix should be without lumps...if you have any remove before pouring it in the engine.
And of course I meant 50km only and not 50k kms. How in the world can I think of driving 50k kms non-stop?
When i saw the K next to 50 and your asking how that can be done, i presumed you meant 50K Kms.

Latest Update: Mileage.
The last two checks after the treatment... same volume of petrol from same pump(500 bucks worth).
1. 247km/7.33 for an average of 33.7
2. 260km/7.33 for an average of 35.5
Before the treatment, I was getting between 30-33 with pillion.
So all in all, an increase of about 5% -- not bad at all.

Today, filled in 200 worth from a different pump, let's see how that goes.
PS: Forgot to mention that these checks are with pillion.

This is precisely what i was conveying when i said that the little clutch slip i had was gone in about 300 kms ride with the mix...I was apprehensive and thought of consequences..anyway i was prepared for the clutch plate change, and i knew from past experience that engine is not going to be adversely affected...so i gave it a try.Originally posted by Centaur View Post+1
Exactly my reasoning while trying this out....
And I've completed 600 kms on 20gms..
and there does seem to be some improvement... I'm getting the speed/rpm ratio with pillion that I used to get while riding solo, which, to my mind, is definitely an improvement...
Will be checking the mileage next..
Any experiment has its pros and cons....Penicillin once a savior now produces anaphylitic shock and kills..and no longer effective

If you find something positive, you can continue riding..if not you can always flush your engine and all the residue will go.
BTW I have finished 1st hundred kms after adding 5gm of boric powder, no change at all. Will mix rest 15gm to a new SS oil and go for a long ride this weekend

lol...50k nonstop, Donno if IBA has some awards for thisOriginally posted by nirvaana View Post@PSR is it necessary to ride for 50k after adding the mix? tats a big ask
n i guess u meant non-stop??
There are disadvantages as well like cluth slippage and the solid substance getting deposited in parts which doesn't move or doesn't need lubrication. Please go through the TBhp thread...it has all details.Originally posted by princesirohi View Postif this is so easy and information is also very easily available on internet, why commercial oil making companies are not exploiting it. why nobody from organized automobile sector recognizes it and uses it.
Hey Man...what could happen in a bike engine by adding boric powderOriginally posted by princesirohi View Post^^ i am raising these questions - not becuase i want to discourage its use or that i don't want to use, its because-i want to use it but want to be 100% sure before going in --
i have already googled and read most of the available articles on internet. earlier also, when the thread was started, i did all the research on net and then decided not to go for it, but now, i am thinking about it.
as far as Tbhp thread is concerned, some guys there reported that there vehicles was ruined becuase of this. and regarding that motor silk treatment, i think it is the only one such product available in market. my question is --that why it is not widely accepted commercially.

Since you have doubts do not go for this experiment, and google to find the many posts on it....Motor silk in US is already marketing it..I had given a link in Team Bhp on this...please go through for all your doubts.Originally posted by princesirohi View Postif this is so easy and information is also very easily available on internet, why commercial oil making companies are not exploiting it. why nobody from organized automobile sector recognizes it and uses it.

Nirvana I had stated 50 Kms as in 50 Kilometers...not 50 K KmsOriginally posted by nirvaana View Post@PSR is it necessary to ride for 50k after adding the mix? tats a big ask

50 Kilometers non stop to allow for the mix to mix well and start working...My 22K on odo ZMA engine is feeling the effect after nearly 500 Kilometers.

Checked my speed/rpm today...
It has got to 64/4k rpm with pillion (125kg+63kg) from the previous of 62/4k with pillion.... haven't yet checked it solo (it used to be 64/4k - solo), but yes, definite improvement. Not checked mileage yet...
In short.... satisfied at 550kms

Vipin I had been doing it since 2007 in my Esteem and KB100,and later in Lancer in2008 and recently in my ZMA..I had indicated the quantity as 20Gms per liter of engine oil, prefereably in new engine oil,and to drive immediately after add on for at least 50 Kms.Originally posted by vipin_s View PostFound this while reading the link posted by psr...
Friendly and helpful customer support that goes above and beyond. We help you get the perfect domain name.
I may 'borofying' my achiever, but only when Speed/RPM ratio goes down a bit, right now my bike reaches 60 exactly at 4700-4800 rpm, odo reads 16.4K, may be I will try after 20K.
One thing to be noted is use of purest form of boric powder is important, when I read the link, guys are using different grams, different proportions, different procedures for mixing etc etc..I hope some one will find out exact amount for 4T bikes and standardised steps to be followed...if some Automotive lecturers/professors are reading this thread, they can experiment in detail and can be a nice research for their students, the cost too will not be much.
Not much change in engines less than 15 K Kms and never in new or engines done only 3 to 4 K Kms.
