its not something new. as a matter of fact, this is how it goes.. initially, they treat the customers so well and drag customers in with all those lovely and a little reliable product.. once they gain popularity and trust, they don't give the same treatment, reason? Trust from the consumer.. these are business tactics my dear friend.. some people get addicted to such stuff being bikers.. we want something good and at the same time something cheap. people spend some money, get the new stuff. if it fails, call the merchant and complain, they say we have something better in stock, but its going to cost you a little more.. the customer thinks ah.. if its something new, its gotta be better than the previous stuff and this cycle continues.. who is the loser? definitely not the merchant but the consumer.. hoping he will get something working (at-least) after spending so much of money.. little he knows that he has spent too much of money by the time he realizes he has lost so much and gained nothing.. all this is because of the trust and fame the merchant has gained from the initial good days..

You have taken the proper decision into getting a new bike a wise decision.. Kudos to you my dear friend

Looking at this thread I admit, I must have done some good to someone that I sold my old bike and got a new one instead .

The itch of going fast at a fraction of a new one and that I am in Bangalore was really very hard to resist. Good that I suppressed the urge.

But I really don't know what happened since Xbhp used to be the place which use to sing ballads and write sonnets for the same guy.

Here's my contribution,

I invested my HARD EARNED money into his kits as well, this was even before he improved on the quality of his products.

Bike: Pulsar 220 bought Aug 2009

I was frustrated with the stock bike, it was heating up, clunky gear shifts and the service interval was reduced drastically because of the heat produced.

Learnt about RC throught xBhp. Invested on the BB kit, Stage 3 headwork & FFE. Got the BB kit and head work done at his shop (which took some time to find). but was a bit surprised that he dint tune the carb for the additions. Joel Raju mentioned that he changed the jet size for similar modifications. got the jet, changed it myself. Found my ace mechanic who had disappeared, got the carb tuned for the proper AFR.

10k + kms after, I am still in love with it. its a hoot to ride. service interval has increased by a huge margin, bike is really smooth (my friend confirms the same) and I dont give my bike to anyone, cuz i just love it)

i started off with something else ( about drilling holes and chassis, still figuring out that world)... excuse me gentlemen, the scorpio, vtec or cedia, whatever... we can meet up later on tracks and settle ego...

lets not bring bill, delivery, service or TIN number in, as of now, this is India, though...

@Joel, I thought a lot and these are the few points which I have to say. I am just voicing out the concerns of general public here in xbhp. Hope you take it in the right spirit. I am trying to put it as neutral as possible here.


1. The biggest complaint everyone ever had (me included), was with your customer response. Even after me being in Blore, I had to call you like 10 times if I needed to visit you once. You may be busy or not, but we expect prompt response because we invested a good deal of money on the kits and we want it to work at its best.



2. You agreed that the kits are not really plug and play and that it obviously needs re tuning the carburettor, but you know this, I know this, all those who have more experience with bikes know it, but what about the majority of your customers who are newbies and are clueless about it? Why was it advertised like that? When I got the kits, I too was clueless and thought that nothing has to be done to the carb. You said yesterday you will make an instruction manual in future to prevent all this and I say everything should be clearly explained in that, all the drawbacks of hotrodding too and not just the benefits. You should not keep people in the dark. And you have to rephrase the sentences like better than stock reliability etc, this is very misleading! And why dont you explain the process of porting which you follow? I never received any convincing answer till date to exactly what you do when you do head porting. Is the air flow bench used? What other devices are used to get the most efficient head? Not just for porting, for all other parts how about sharing diagrams and basic schematics (if you are worried of plagiarism hide the measurements or any critical data on them) to prove that you really did some hard work?



3. What about all the people who have waited months for the kits? You said you wanted to improve on shipping delays and this will happen over the next 2 - 3 months but what about those who have already waited ages? All of them deserve to be refunded in full with extra compensatory amount for the trouble!



4. You cant simply blame out of Blore people that their mechs ruined the kits! Not all were mech's fault. You did agree that the initial FZ/R15 bores had issues, this should never have even happened in the first place! How can anyone trust that it will never happen again? Moreover, why is @Kirankj1724 who is still in Blore, has a bad experience? You say his bike already had a problem to begin with so I guess he can better explain the story! You apologized yesterday for @plasmabhai's bore failure and I appreciate it, but I think it is too late now. He can share his side of the story better. Let me not get into any specific failure case right now or that whether any other competitive business is playing dirty or not but you say only one side of story is told here in this forum and that you are too busy to defend yourself! I honestly dont know how that can happen now.



5. This is the most important point. You said you will provide dyno figures in the future (which you have been saying for years), I agree getting a dyno is not a piece of cake but how will anyone trust that the bike is as powerful as you say? 10% bump is just a magic number if you ask me!! The louder exhaust and filter can cloud anyone's judgement regarding how fast the bike actually is (including me)! Unless and until the dyno figures are provided, you can never fully convince me or anyone here regarding the true performance bump achieved, agreed the bike may go fast, but was the power bump worth the money spent? Only dyno can say that.



I agree with the points made above by @ariendj, if you are really serious about providing better experience in future, you need to have someone answer the calls at least!!!



And if you really want to reduce shipping delays and improve the purchase experience, why dont you sell through trusted channels like eBay? If the product is not shipped within the allotted time, the customer will automatically get a refund (courtesy PaisaPay) and if the customer has received the product and is satisfied, only then you get the money (from PaisaPay). It cant get any more transparent than this!!



Unless you provide fully tested, proven and quality parts, dyno figures, clear and precise instruction manual, refund to all those who have waited forever, a clearer and efficient way of purchasing and at least an apology to all those who have had failures (which you may or may not have done already), I dont see how anyone here can trust you completely. You said you were hurt by reading my post regarding head work and hand drills (I might have been a bit out of line there as I have not seen the entire porting procedure done on the Evo 4), but do you know how hurt I was reading the sad state of so many failures and pending refunds?


You said actions speak louder than words, I hope you really believe in it when you said that.

Please joel just stop this nonsense. Please!

After you installed my first bore and I went for a test ride - I came back and told you that the engine was knocking at low rpms. The very god damned first ride. You told me to change gears at higher rpms. I told you to upjet my carb but you did not even have a proper sized jet with you. All through the run in (<4000 rpms first 500 kms, <6000 rpms till 1000 kms) I kept on telling you that the engine is running lean but you said no problem you will upjet the carb after run-in.

When I came to you for upjetting you again did not have the jet, even after saying on the phone that I can come down you will have the jets ready. You then asked your mechanic to "tune" the carb and told me to go my merry way.

When the bore seized you said it was because of lean mixture.

So basically, even though the install was in your workshop, the "tuning" was in your workshop everything was done by either you or your mech still shit happened. To me.

Later you told adarsh that a "someone" had revved the engine till redline in neutral right after installation and that is what caused the first bore to seize.

So basically even if things are done in your workshop one can never be sure about the install or the tuning.


Look joel, I have never called you childish names like "tooner", I respect your achievements, but that does not give you the right to treat your customers like horse crap.

Even the ones who are happy with your products have never got them in time. Why? For gods sake even an item ordered from china from ebay is delivered to bangalore in a month. Why do your products take 6 freakin months? And why do people say that is ok because of your "busy schedule"? Flipkart will delay delivery for 1 day and people loose their shit. This guy is delaying 6 damn months! You are not the only person who is busy joel, we all have jobs too. Either commit to a delivery date or do not take the f*cking money..!

Your business ethics are crap joel. When I specifically asked you for a bill for the Rs.10,000 cash that I paid to you, you refused...!!! Why?

Why don't your products have a fixed price? You charged Rs.8000 for the bore that you gave me (180cc) and Rs2000 for head work whereas you charged totally different prices to souvik basu (xtremevirus) from ahmedabad for the same 180cc bore and head work. Its the same bike for gods sake! Why this discrepancy?

So to summarise, you will charge variable amount from different people for same product, said product will be delayed in delivery, person will not get a bill for their purchase, said product will not work properly if not installed by you in your workshop. And to top all this shit off, the said product will not work properly even if installed BY YOU IN YOUR OWN WORKSHOP - because that is exactly what happened to me..!!!

So once again joel, please stop this nonsense.

Take money from sponsors, advertisers, companies whatever, do what you do best.

But please stop swindling normal people like me who work hard to earn whatever little money they have.

I believe you are wrong in two aspects.

1. The Honda shouldn't be brought in because this is INDIAS LARGEST MOTORCYCLING COMMUNITY. And if babying it mean ripping till 9k rpm everyday day after day then I wonder what going hard on it means.

2. The smoke could be to improper rings and what not and I'm sure a bad mechanic can screw ring placement mine had the same fault.

Now if you entered modding. You should have been aware things can go wrong and after market parts are as strong as you maintain them. I keep drain intervals of 1500km and use 1000 rupee per liter oil every time and never faced a problem. So to conclude. Simple he said she said isn't going to work. Modding is taking care of a baby. Something happens. You don't make the child run around. You take it to a doctor. And shit is bound to go wrong if you aren't careful.

Hi to all my fellow bikers,

This has been a long overdue reply to the thread.
i had issues with my BB kit after 6k kms.i took the whole setup off and put the stock back in place.

the whole issue started off with white smoke and then more issues related to a certain drag at higher rpms.
things went downhill from there and i was scared for a blown piston or even worse,an engine failure.

the hard earned money is gone,the trust is gone but i really want a better world for everyone and so recommending the following.

1)im a doctor by profession and i consider all jobs should be done like that.
be it a human or motorcycle or even sweeping the floor,do it with passion and not for someone's money
you will be rewarded with time but in the best way.
i feel you must be giving the honda city,a proper baby care since its yours and the rest of us are getting half hearted stuff.
always do enough research before you come out with products or else excuses for failing products wont be taken lightly by anyone.
2)Joel,you may be busy and held up in races.(i got my BB kit with FFE after 6 months.)
please recruit two kinds of employees for your shop
a)secretary: to pick the calls and say what and where exactly things are at and for emergency help.
b)fellow tuner: to help you out so that you don't get so busy to even go to office once every few weeks!
3)Joel,i think you shouldn't be shipping any items to anyone unless someone is willing to visit your shop and do the tunes by you.
reason being,you can give excuses now saying local mechanics are worthless or less experienced but you never gave a warning to anyone when money was put for it.

I know the hormones are at a peak with all the drama happening but i do suggest that the fellow bikers calm down since you,not only lost your motorcycle's health buy yours too
with all the rage!

on a side note,i bought a RE classic 350 in meantime.
i just passed on the FZ to my brother since i just cant let go off the beautiful machine.

We will always have bikers brotherhood intact. But one thing I can't stand is having a reputation tarnished over a few cases. And words like tooner eggjoosht and whatever else are in all honesty disgusting. Gives me a pukey feeling in fact. It's on such a low level bro! It's just not at the same level of your claimed losses. The cheating is not on his part. Who knows, the day you broke your exhaust a family member or close friend may have had an emergency. My father is a hotelier and is one the phone 24*7 but family first man. Take a chill pill. Same with your exhaust. Murphies law. Take it like that. Change your perspective. I wanted a fast bike. I got it. I sacrificed reliability and gave to some stupid moron at a road side shed. I got what I wanted. All said and done. What this thread has done. Has possibly tarnished a reputation. And bullying an adult is just disgusting. Shame on yall. Shame on all of us.
