Sholdn't we protest this unethical increment in petrol prices?

When anna a 74 old person can lead us against corruption shouldn't we xbhpians take the initiative to make the government realise how their common citizens suffer and mostly the middle class people(including me) whose common commuting machine is "motorbike"? Can't we??? I think we can try to do atleast this much for our country? Not everyone can afford such increments, some may even quit riding if can't afford? Atleast we can persuade the government to reduce the tax they levy upon petrol which is almost 50% unlike the other countries where tax levied on petrol is far less? Say xbhpians.......

DO u know why petrol prices are so high???

It is because the lpg cylinders that lower class middle class and higher class all use in their houses are subsidised by nearly 50%
If government increases the price of lpg gas cylinders then everyone will be infuriated....just for the sake of the middle class man they cant put burden on those who fall in an even smaller income bracket.......
This is why the commercial gas cylinders are costlier.
Dont get me wrong i am not supporting the governments budget policy.
It wud be better if they had progressive pricing like subsidised rates for people who come in the lower income class on the basis of their ration card and full price for the rest of us.
maybe the they can decrease the fuel prices by maybe 15-20 percent....

i am probably the worst hit by the petrol price hike and news of even more hikes in the near future. Just a week before i am gonna turn 18 and have convince my dad on the R15 v2.0 this had to happen....that twister has started looking better by the day....

Its unfortunate how diesel still has a flat subsidy. I am not for reducing taxes since that would mean we will import more oil and putting more of a burden on our economy.
The govt should work towards improving public transport to an extent seen in other countries or be more self reliant on fuel. Subsidy for lower income group seems like a good idea but in practice that would mean rampant exploitation.

BTW petrol sells for almost Rs.150+ in Europe.

I bet no one would have thought during the month of June 2010
(Petrol price was freed from the government control in June last year)
that the fuel prices will be increased so rapidly.
I hate being a pillion, iff the rider is senseless.

The govt says it has to let off the subsidy to stop the losses of oil companies.

But i fail to understand that first of all the central govt then the state govt both levy tax on fuel. Then there are numerous other taxes that are imposed. This increases the price of fuel. Then the give a subsidy which is nothing but a meager amount compared with the taxes. Now they start to have problem with that too..

The govt also says it wants the fuel prices to reflect the open market prices. Then be it so, just sell fuel without any other tax than the 'sales tax'....we will be happy with that.

The above views are restricted to my knowledge of the whole pricing thing.
