Well said but walking around in office or anywhere with a black mark on their shoe is kind of embarrassing for some people

Currently no such problem for me as I ride unicorn with double sided gear shifter
How about padding the gear lever so that it does not damage the shoe.
Any which ways I ride with boots and change to shoes in office.
