Every tyre has a Thread Wear Indicator (TWI) marked on the sides and visible at the contact patch when the tyre wears out.

In most cases, you'll know you are loosing grip even before the TWI shows up.

Yup-the tyre loses its ideal performance even before it reaches somewhere near the TWI. In any case, SBK tyres don't last more than 5-6K kms. Check with one of the SBK owners for more details.

Frankly, I have no idea about this. I saw a reputed member speaking, and I mentioned it here...

It depends on mode of import, manufacture localization, etc... Too many factors for a mere mortal like me to predict correct.

However, if a 60% localisation method like R15 is used, then of course it might be lot cheaper than we expect. But, such release requires a lot of research & experimentation.

i dont think this info is accurate, if yamaha even localize 60% of the R6 parts it still wont be cheap, the bike will still cost ard 6-7lcs, first for yamaha to make R6 parts here is a joke, too much investment in the factory setup & machines especially in these times of recession, Yamaha know that if they do all this effort & make R6 for india it wont sell, sorry to say this but 95% of bikers in india use bikes to commute, this is INDIA they know it, last thing yamaha wants is to take stupid risks, they might come with a 250cc MAX eg r25 or fz250 but regardin the R6 just forget it, it wont happen,

                    cheers...
