Dude! Ride modes were offered first in the Suzukis. Yamaha do have a ride mode. Honda and Ducati doesn't offer any drive mode as of yet.

that is because there is a huge difference between the 600s talked above and the gt650r....
                    th
e gt650r makes around 70-80bhps of power according to websites and the 600s talkd above make around 120bhps of power...

Yes they do make more power (now.. but are you sure a 2000 model will pump out as many horses?).. but you don't get spares and service for these bikes.. neither can you ride them to the fullest because

#1 they are illegal and cops / DRI can take it away any day
#2 Because they are illegal, even if you manage to get it registered and insured, the day you go out for an insurance claim, the insurance company will reject the claim or even if it is approved, they can very well get you booked for insurance fraud.
#3 You still won't get spares / service from the company.

Act smart.. Get the legal stuff.. go for the GT650 / ER-6f
Advice is a form of nostalgia.

not all the 600s available are illegal some are full duty paid...
regarding the insurance if the bikes are fully duty paid there wont be any hassles...
and many superbike mechanincs have started keeping spares for such bike...

I totally agree that getting a new showroom bike will be much more handy but if i would want to upgrade to a liter class in the upcoming 1-2 years I would prefer to buy a used 600...
