For a second I thought its a manufacturer trying to take feedback from us to guage response *cough*Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostFor a second I thought its a manufacturer trying to take feedback from us to guage response *cough*
So here are my responses
Is there a market for these bikes in India? - A small but a definite market exists for this
Will you buy any of these? - Anything under 400CC, and priced appropriately, I would definitely take the plunge!
Would you Like these in profile like CBR 250R - Liquid Cool will help, but do protect the radiator in such a case!
20 Liter Fuel Tank is required for a country like India - YESSSS! 18 will do, 20 would be marvelous. A range of 400KMs in a tankfull is what we aspire for
And the ground clearance suits any roads in India[Literally] - DEFINITELY needed! Add a bash plate in there in optional accesories
The Riding comfort is better than track bikes[Eg. R15 2.0] - DUH Yes!
The Pillion is also comfortable - Yes! A back rest/luggage carrier would help too!
Should have a BIG alternator to charge up other gadgets via a ciggy adaptor!
Should have a lot of optional accesories (Headlight protector, touring racks, Fog lamps!)
Hmmmm

Disappointed to hear its a small market.[Less hope]

Yes most of these bike has protected radiator, I had seen Radiators under right fairing.

In some 600-800cc bikes , I had seen 400Watts Alternator and it has an optional OEM ciggy AdaptorHelmets On +
High-Beams Off And
Only Headphones I need is my Exhaust!!

I saw small purely because this segment hasnt ever been catered to. But rest assured, given a choice most tourers (here and everywhere else) would like a configuration like that as compared to a FZ250 in its original form or made to look like the R25!
The same engine, in chassis that delivers, and "Adventure" styling and heck heres my booking!!!!!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

This is a good thread...
In my opinion Terene 250 is not a highway / touring bike...it is an on / off roader similar to the impulse...the wind condition & the trucks around, this would get really thrown off the road (Off Roader would work here
) BMW 1200 is a dream & also the Yamaha Super Terene 1000
Hope something comes to India like this..probably with lesser CC and the same kind of construct & durabilityNever Give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about.
Cheers

Improving ZMA
I might be on the wrong thread ... but, since we are on the topic:
How can I work on my ZMA (19k odo) to make it more of a tourer than it already is? Not talking about engine ... but I am talking about shocks, seat, changing the fairing, etc.
Any thoughts? Has anyone done this?
P.S. If this is not the right thread, please direct me to one (couldn't search one)
P.S.2: I am new here ...

Late last year rode to Arunachal (west till Tawang). The terrain offered some extreme stretches and the bike handled it quite well. But realised i was really pushing hard in some places. The most noticable shortcoming was in the suspension and braking area. So want to beefup that region. Any thoughts there?
From the regular touring part, feel the seat could be a bit better. So any suggestion on bettering seat and the seat:handle equation for more comfort posture.Last edited by mpadiki; 07-19-2012, 08:35 AM.

Impulse would have been ideal bike for touring India if only it had karizma's engine...
wonder why hero didn't go that way..
The new Honda NC700 also looks very promising from major aspects... If only they launch it in India also...sigpic

An adventure tourer is basically an On-Off road bike but built big and heavy than normal on-off road bikes (like the Impulse). The additionall Weight and Size makes for comfortable riding over long distances for longer durations/days. These bikes also are designed to carry around luggages. The engines are torque rich which is necessary to be able to carry around the bulk easily. Plus these bikes also come with protection from the wind in the form of tall/adjustable wind screens.
Adventure Touring Bikes are the real touring bikes. It's go anywhere capabilty, weight, suspension, wind resistance make it proper and comfortable tourers.
Our so called desi touring bikes are nothing but basically commuters. Pulsar 220/ZMA/CBR250R are all nothing but basically commuters (which are a bit more suitable for touring than the regular hardcore puny commuters). Even Royal Enfields which are actually meant to be possesd and owned as retro styled models.. become "ideal" tourers in India just because still there are no bikes in India which can match these retro thumpers in "torque".
I can't tell for sure.. unless somebody launches them, it's difficult to predict. There are also a lot of factors like Price, Size etc.Originally posted by Hackdrag View Post- Is there a market for these bikes in India?
Personally, I would love to. But then one will have to Indianize them. A proper Indianized Adventure Tourer sounds cool.. The engine size, body size/weight, seat height and of course the pricing has to be "desi".Originally posted by Hackdrag View Post- Will you buy any of these?[Only few of these are available.]
Sure, the current torque that the CBR250R makes is ok.. but then an Adventure Tourer will be slightly heavy.. therefore more the torque, the better.Originally posted by Hackdrag View Post- Would you Like these in profile like CBR 250R[ ie 250cc| Liquid cooled|6
Speed]
For and Adventure Tourer?? Definitely.Originally posted by Hackdrag View Post- 20 Liter Fuel Tank is required for a country like India
What's an Adventure Tourer that's got no ground clearance.. but then it also means a higher saddle height.. one therefore needs a good balance between the two (seat height and ground clearance).Originally posted by Hackdrag View Post- And the ground clearance suits any roads in India[Literally]
There should not be any debate on thisOriginally posted by Hackdrag View Post- The Riding comfort is better than track bikes[Eg. R15 2.0]
Don't carry a pillion.. but loading capability is more important.Originally posted by Hackdrag View Post- The Pillion is also comfortable.
