And yet another friend sent me an SMS saying that Yamaha is working on a single cylinder 600cc exclusively for India! I reckon with about 45 odd Bhp.

Very soon we will have all these bikes on the road. Which one are you gonna buy?
A CBR 600RR is my dream, n karizma was my Indian dream...
Indian dream had been fulfilled, its tym to go Global...
Cant imagine any better Indian bikes, R15 for instance is a small replica of R1, good but not something i'd go for, a replica!!!
I'd prefer an original R1 anytime, only coz its original...
So no more Indian bikes for me, but i'd love to see others owning them, coz am totally in luv wid mah ZMA R...

But yes am eagerly waiting for KTMs, ninja 250, etc...

    • @ Satellite Kid: Dude, I was thinking it would be a new cylinder for RTR 180. But NO, it was the same cylinder with Bore increased by 0.5mm.

I believe TVS had no choice, that had to keep costs low & release date quick. otherwise why wouldn't they want "RTR 180 faster than R15" ??

End of the Line: It was all upto "we" to guess, how RTR 180 was to be made, despite all crazy info here and there.

Regarding P220 having 6 gears, it might be well possible, seeing the competition.

      --
@ Ken.Cool: Two 250's were heard about one year ago from Suzuki, so I believe it.
But, What would this Yamaha's 600cc be called? I mean, "FZ" or "Fazer" or some new name?
Surely, it can NOT be something like Indian R6 with one cylinder?

If Suzuki does come with a 250, it'd be primarily for the world market and then if they feel like it, maybe it'll be launched in India. Same with Yam 250 and no Honda 250 isnt coming here !!

In 2005, there were covert photographs of the testing of something that vaguely resembled a 250Katana! That is a 2 decade old motorcycle. And the covert testing was done nearly half a decade ago! But nothing came of it as we all know and it has been quietly relegated to the footnotes of Indian Motorcycle history of machines that nearly made to these shores. Phew! There are so many of them.

Whatever...what I wanted to point out was that some people say somethings very confidently due to their contacts or whatever, but in the end the companies make a fool out of them (and us if we believe them) by launching something different!!! That's why I gave the example of the RTR180 thread!

Moreover, its my way of looking at it -- that you have to have something like an R15 (say CBR150) to beat an R15! Making the bike go faster doesn't beat an R15, this bike has many more things going for it!! An RTR or any other Indian motorcycle, in stock condition, can only hope to beat the R15 by having the engine capacitiy of 200cc or above. But even that isn't happening right now, cause R15 beats every bike fair and square in performance.

I will consider R15 being beaten fairly only if someone comes out with a 150cc bike and then beats it, which only CBR150 is capable of and it isn't here! Otherwise, it is just too good for other Indian bikes.

R15s can be beaten by many bikes when it comes to straight line speed....
                        Performance <> Speed

The R15's forte is its brilliant handling, and the complete package!

Kenda I saw a single cylinder Platina once :P

BTW The Suz I was referring to was seen on Chennai tracks about the time the R15 was launched everybody thought it would be the gsr 250

From what I heard it is a followup bike to the GSR.... I wonder when it will come! Phew!

Whereas straight line speeds are concerned, I think only the P220 is better than R15. You tell me, you own an R15, right?

                              something from honda.
hey guys it will be a year since FZ and more than a year since R15..nobody has done anything...are the competition that far behind?
or they have other priorities like scooter, milage etc..for the mass market in their heads. They may not look into performance oriented bikes really seriously.

                                Honda CBR150R

After successfully accepted in Malaysian market. It is speculated that Honda may bring its CBR 150R in India by 2009 in competition with Karizma & R15 competitor and may price of CBR150 will be below one lakh.

The Honda CBR150R is powered by a 149.4cc 4-stroke carburetted single cylinder 4 valve DOHC engine with 11.0:1 compression and CDI ignition, mated to a 6-speed wet clutch manual transmission. It produces 18.5 Bhp at 10500 rpm and 13.5 Nm of torque at 8500 rpm.

                                Main Features of Honda CBR150R:

                                - DOHV 4-valve 150 cc water-cooled engine with balancer shaft.
                                - 6-speed return manual transmission.

                                Yamaha R6
What you will feel when you on Yamaha's new R6 a quick progress, not rapid, beneath 70 mph in top, however erst over the legal limit insignificant six takes off as if a scolded cat without so a lot of as a down shift. Drop to moment at this speed and you will find yourself looking at the sky as everything disappears behind you at an alarming rate and it will be interesting to see what the six will do in the quarter mile.

                                Suzuki GSX-R 1000

Suzuki GSX-R 1000 offers something different when compare to other bike in same segment amongst the usual selling points of superb handling, class leading performance it offers switchable ECU maps.

With switchable ECU fuel mapping you can switch to low performance for easy handling in traffic, fuel economy and when riding with cruisers, medium for faster rides with the 600cc and full power for the track and Hayabusa owners.

The engine produces a claimed 136Kw from 999cc production motorbike sure torque is claimed a mere 120Nm but the bike weighs in at 172Kgs. The age of ever less weight equals greater performance and handling is over I think. There comes a point where MORE weight equals even greater performance and handling. And about time some one was brave enough to do it.

The next thing ypu will notice about the inclusion of dual exhaust pipes! as always 2 pipes are better than one in terms of looks. Just like big rear tyres just look better than skinny ones.
