Above all, personally I feel that most products that has a label stating "Made in India", does not need to be manufactured in India. Remember??? China is a big time player now in manufacturing sector. They provide huge support and bend over back to bring in demand for their products worldwide. They are willing to manufacture your product with OEM flexibility (i.e) a company in China could manufacture, print, pack and ship the product under your company's brand name with your company's logo and all that legal stuff in it. You will not even be able to identify if it was manufactured in India or China. We all know about quality of products from China. Add to it the dealers and distributors network throughout India. Such is the transparency state now.

I was shopping around to buy few toys for my daughter and was surprised to see a wide variety of toys displayed. All of it was from China. I scanned few of the toys to see the price. Surprisingly, one of the toy had MRP as Rs.26 with a bar code and right beside it was imprinted with another sticker as Rs.115. I was zapped. Now who is to be blamed or who is cheating on whom? Are our people betraying our own countrymen or what? Of course it is business but I do not see any ground rules here...

Consider what we eat everyday. The cereals and pulses that we consume everyday is only of B or C grade quality. The best of the lot is being exported. Aren't Indians ready to buy the best of the lot? Are we not supposed to eat premium quality foods? On the flip side, we are regularly supplied and forced to buy imported chocolates and frozen foods. Even baby's food???

Leave aside the known big players in India, they are accountable and cannot be questioned. Unless we are sure about a particular company or its manufacturing plant details, it is hard to say "I am an Indian. I always buy Indian products." Many a times we should be saying, "I am an Indian. I always buy Made-for-India products."

Hoping to see Government turning things around soon failing which I see ourselves landing up in another pre-independence era. This time it may not be UK but maybe China or some other country

I agree, taxes are too damn high here considering what we get from government in return and IMHO the service tax thing is total bullcrap. Just look at our roads, the road to my home is still unpaved due to some political reasons and I have tasted the free lunch the government provides at schools here. Trust me, I am used to eating crap and that food still made me puke.

Speaking of the cereals, I get to eat the best ones as we have our own rice plantations, now here comes the irrigation system, the public irrigation system sucks golf balls through garden hose. We barely get any water, we all are dependent on Varun dev for irrigation

Hell, we sometimes arrange frog marriage to get rains :P Seriously though, we get to eat the best grains as we don't sell our crop. I have been trying to improve a strain of rice here which is known as "Jaha", is has a unique aroma to it but yields too low, so planters tend to avoid it, my aim is to improve it for better yield. I wonder if any of you have ever tasted the 3 rupees a kilo rice that is offer BPL people through co-operative system, it has it's own smell too, which can be termed as "crappy".

Frozen foods are useless as you can't store them in fridge, due to the lack of constant electricity supply, chocolates seem tasty but few years ago, I vowed to never eat chocolate and have stayed away from it since then. Anyway chocolates companies runs a bloody death rampage down the plantations in Africa I heard. Hehe, my baby food was "bhim kol", a strain of banana with high amount of seeds.

I say buy whatever you want, leave patriotism and national economy aside, at least for now. When India develops (or should I say "if"?) you can resume your patriotism and start buying Indian made things which are actually built in a sweatshop situated in dark ally utilizing child labor :P

Being a student of Economics, I wouldn't bother reading anything by this particular guy. He is very selective in what he wants to see and what he wants to ignore, never presenting a truthful picture on Social Economics.

More precisely, In mumbai Municipality spends more than Rs 120crs every year for road reparation but what we see is a big pot holes on every lanes/highways etc.

Why Indian companies are not like foreign companies ??
Why Before R15 there wasn't any sports type bike from Bajaj/TVS/Hero ??
Why Still Honda is ahead in varieties compared to Hero ??

Some where Bajaj has started showing some sign of upgrade in biking industry.

I won't mind buying a bike which has better features and quality as compare to Yamaha/Suzuki.Honda, from any indian company.

But the question is when ??

Even today in Bank Of India we need to visit branch for any password reset/new password or cheque book request hand written application.

People will buy genuine quality and better products regardless of it is indian or imported.
This is so called democracy or else Indian company start gearing up!!

We will be more happy to support Indian brands if they work with competitions, because even Indian brands comes with a price.

You have a valid point there bro, that's the truth. . . That's the reason why many including me in some aspects opt for imported things. The thing is simple, here people don't meet up with the quality. . . Just a small example, if a person is asked which bike to buy between a pulsar220 and a R15, he will go for R15, the reason is not just for the looks but many see the overall features of the bike, the things they offer us and main thing, the QUALITY. . . If our Indian brands also start giving us these kind of better qualities then who needs Yamaha or Honda, we will be buying Our Indian Hero/TVS/Bajaj, . . The thing is simple, the companies are doing their job, I am not saying they are worst but still they need to improve, improve a lot and as you said above, Bajaj are now showing signs with the launch of a totally new bike, 200NS, that's what we need, we need more and more improvement from it, I know it's not the best bike compared to others but still comparing to its own brand, it's definitely a big leap for Bajaj, that's what other brands also should do. . . Let's just hope and see, that's all we can do. . . Now that Hero also have broke up with Honda and new bikes are coming on the line, let's see if our Hero will retain it's first position or will give way to the Honda (as you all know Honda lately has been on No2 Two wheeler manufacturer in India overtaking the Bajaj). . . If this continues then no one is going to buy our Indian products and all the company people should go back to their homes, locking the company. . . Same applies with the helmets, let's not go anywhere, in Xbhp itself, just post a query as to which is the best helmet within 2.7k, everyone will ask you to get LS2 or Cross but only a few might ask you for a Studds/Vega. . . Reminding again, our INDIAN products should meet up with the quality of their foreign competitors and then only people will go for our Indian brand, until then, only foreign brands will rule. . . That's it and @The Monk can you tell us which was that G2G or at least the name of the jackets. . . Thanks. . .
