Sure thing mate. Float costs about 350. I have an old float which was changed by a mechanic in my previous bike for petrol leak from carb. I need to check if that is really punctured.

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |
It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well
and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

if you are painting using canned paint , please rub the painted part with a piece of cotton dipped in petrol or paint thinner , helps to check wether the paint has bonded or not

Sounds good kb100. Thank you for the tip mate. What I do is spray them using can after treating with putty and primer and sanding. Once sprayed I would give it to the painter for clear and hardner. Had a tough time convincing the painter to do this alone on my previous bike. The finish was good. This time I am thinking to get another layer of clear and hardner after the stickers are in

Meanwhile I dismantled the disc brake assembly, fuel cap assembly and lock set.

Unfortunately the Speedo gauges are completely kaput. Dismantling them now

        Update :

The disc brake system is clean and assembled. The dirt bushes replaced, pads cleaned and plate sanded for utmost cleanliness.

Meanwhile this is the status of bike now.
The original picture was taken in a camera and I took a snap from the camera through this phone.

reason: my wife was beginning to get furious as I have dumped the balcony with my stuff. She became more furious when she saw me taking snaps of the mess and posting here.

The hubs, rear grip, shocks, forks, swing arm, chain guards and foot rests are painted.
            The spokes are being fitted.
The swing arm bushes shall be replaced.
The fork oil and seals are replaced.
The master brake cylinder and it's piston shall also be replaced.
            The headlight assembly is purchased.
The fork cone set shall be replaced today. The kids in the flat have misplaced the washer cap that sits just below the lock nut. New spare is impossible. Looking to use the mineral water can's cap as an alternate.
Thought of getting a new wiring kit. But dropped the idea as it looks good. Just a few joints here and there for indicators. Like confused here.

The gauge is completely kaput. New assembly costs 2200. Looking to get a new piece at 1500 locally made or visit junkyard and strike some luck.

The tank, shields and mud guards are painted. Need to get stickers and clear coated. Time to find a painter and do the talking.

If the schedule is adhered properly, the bike should be ready by Friday.

The engine rebuild is completed. Need to complete the run in.

while the new bore kit is of dtsi type, the crankshaft is reconditioned with new conrod. The bearings and valves are new. Does the dtsi bore on older models make any difference in terms of compression?

Post run in, may I consider replacing the clutch cover with that of an avenger so that an oil cooler is added-just a thought. Would there be any difference in oil pressure even if I use 1.2litres of oil?

How about changing the stator plate with that of an avenger180 for using 55/65 bulbs or even is there a way to convert the bike to full dc? Would it be worth the efforts?

It is the later I presume. The dealer validated with spares manager as well. Does it make any difference?

After selling my dtsi model pulsar a few months back for an Avenger, I was just not able to forget those lovely moments I had with the bike. I contacted the guy to whom I sold it in an effort to get it back but in vain. Seems like he was so fond of the round headlamp model that he refused. I also had plans to get into automobile business and decided to test the possibility of success with my very own bike. That was a biggest mistake... selling off a good 9.yrs old bike with almost new cosmetics and unopened engine.:banghead:

I was able to deal with many bikes after that but somehow I used to envy any pulsar with round headlamp would pass through. Finally decided to get one and keep it with me.

Searches began for the pulsar but none was in reasonable condition. I was horrified to see pulsars in the hands of construction supervisors to transport cement and rubbish. The bikes were abused as much as possible. Most bikes were not worth rebuilding. It was beyond restoration. False advertisements, remodeled and dumped bikes, poorly maintained rides... I was about to give up the sentiment.

Finally, set a deadline of 3days time. Either get the old model pulsar or stop the drama and continue with life.

One fine morning I received a call from a friend about a purple colored pulsar. Called the owner, visited and picked the bike.

It was a 2002 model, single spark model. Even the swing arm was different. Loved the test ride. Felt like I got something back from the past. I knew this would not replace my earlier bike. But still I bought it. Decided to restore it by myself except engine rebuild.

Today, I am at least happy that I was able to save a good bike from becoming extinct.

So there goes the story of reviving my trusted ride.

Here are the starters pictures for pulsar lovers.

I have a Pulsar 150 Classic red-coloured, circa Jan 2002, Sri Ganganagar (RJ) regn as my Pune bike. Done about 22,000 kms only, over the past 11 years! Zero changes to the main frame. Only replacements have been spark plugs, tyres and head lamp bulbs. Zero issues, zero hassles, zero problems, 100% fun. I took her to Leh and she was flying around the fir lined roads. Lately, a bit of tappet noise is heard but i don't have the guts to get the head opened. A new paint job, post Leh trip, makes her show the finger to other Pulsars on the road. I will never let her go.

At the last MH-GJ G2G, she was hammering away at 90+, at night, on the old Mumbai Pune highway. I know her moods, quirks, likes and dislikes better than the palm of my hand. IMO, THE best overall bike made in independent India, the round lamp, spoked wheel, carburetted, Pulsar 150. Old IS gold...

I had done the restoration job on my brother's 2002 model p150 classic too (It was my first ride). There's something about the classic which just keeps me interested in it!

So true mate. I deeply regret the sale of my bike. I am glad you have similar bike. How did you manage just 22k mileage mate? Great maintenance I should say.

And I have few questions for which I may need you help. Cheers

I guess so too. What could be the solution for that? Extra gaskets in aluminium would work or should I go with specific octane fuel? Little worried on this
