OMG! Not so long ago, i used to enjoy cruising on this stretch..
Will have to find another road now i guess..

Are they really gonna come after me for a measly 100 rs, or should i pay?
I think it'll be a problem only if your offences keep piling up. I doubt they're going to chase you for just that 1 offence. They probably have an upper limit, beyond which they might take action against offenders..

But Karthik, its very foggy these days, & so i wouldn't advise riding to nandi hills late nights or early mornings.. Moreover, the high fog might prevent you from seeing the sunrise itself..

I was thinking of leaving Bangalore by 5.15 - 5.30am and reaching there by 6.30 - 7am. I agree it would be terribly foggy but the view from the top when the sun does come out (which is around 7am nowadays) is a blanket of clouds surrounding you from everywhere. From a photography aspect, that's what we were interested in Hence the reason to travel in peak winter. I have gone there in March and there was no white blanket when the sunrise happened

Thanks a lot for the information on the interceptor location. I will make sure i stay within the speed limits And No, going at nights is out of question. I am a teetotaler, not one of those party revellers who likes to get drunk on the hills

Perhaps if someone has caught this "Cloud-blanket with sun" view there earlier, they could elaborate on when is the best time to go to catch that view.

So why do they need to ask someone to pull over, & get violation history checked!! Out of my understanding..
Not that they would have allowed me to drive away without paying the fine, if violation(s) were found against my car, though i might be well ready to take the case to court..

Yeah! I was thankful that i ended up getting a clean chit.. You never know when they start manufacturing offences
The stretch is quite a nuisance.. Today's event was quite startling..

Hehe.. They're using numbers (IP address) maybe coz they're used to remembering vehicle registration numbers

^Indeed, as Tibby said, the interceptors are stationed either before or after the airport. They like to sit at the end of the long straights...watch your speed here...they'll hit u with that radar gun much before. If you have a car it would be wise to get a radar detector/jammer. I got hit here a while back (got caught at 96..was doing 120 before that). Also, now on the road connecting yeshwantpur to mekri circle and points beyond, there will be an interceptor halfway between the sadishivangar police station and mekri circle. I got caught here the other day, even in heavy traffic, for speeding. had to cough up 300 . These guys are real jackasses, no arguing with em, so just pay and get out of there or just watch your speed. The limit is 40 i believe which really is way too low .

Since some of you were mentioning that the airport stretch is a nuisance, perhaps this is something we should keep in mind. Is the speed limit restriction only till the BIAL airport??

Whoa!! I hope the Bangalore cops don't come to know of it, as quite a big share of 2-wheeler riders here wear those nonsensical topi type hemlets, which only protect the hair & don't have a visor either..
Or wait, maybe they should atleast start warning such people so that they begin wearing the full face helmets.. & let the purpose of wearing a helmet be served..

Watch out for this place on all weekdays in the daytime.. I usually dont see them in the evenings after 3-4pm..
I do travel on this stretch at times, but its only in the venings, post 8.. So have never seen any interceptor stationed thare.. will be careful next time on..

No! They've put up boards at not so frequent intervals stating speed limits as: 40 for HTvs, 60 for 2-wheelers, & 80 for cars.. They've erased the stuff painted on the roads probably because that was lane speed limit, which they probably thought didn't make sense or something..
Word of caution: Kepp your speed well within limits, & don't mess with the cops stationed at interceptors. They're outrightly rude..

This also proves how inefficient our law enforcement set up is. I have to say this, but we, as members of a community whose primary motive is to promote safe motorcycling in this country, should set an example for the average joe rider. This is the least we could do for the love all of us here share, "Motorcycling"

Again, this is just my personal opinion. no offence.

Iam not proud to say that. Doing 120 in front of the interceptor a couple of times was around 8 months back that too coz i was in an emergency. Since u guys are quite frustrated that the cops catch every now & then i gave a simple example of how the hyderabad cops are and how bad the system is here. They dont even bother to send a challan to the house. They do catch bikers at times but leave them for as low as 10rs at times. FYI whenever i go out i maintain speeds of below 70 kmph on 4 lane roads wearing the necessary gear. In traffic i never cross 30-40 kmph and drive saner than most of the people out there. My intention was to show how bad the system is in hyderabad. U guys would be shocked to see how badly people drive on hyd. Unorganised races, racing on opposite direction without the use of brakes and slowing down only through downshifts, unorganised drag races early in the morning, racing through betting (prize money goes as high as 60k at times), stunting in the traffic without ANY gear etc etc. I was invited for all these many times. But i refused openly and also warned them. Also for one of the races the police were bribed for the permission.
And coming to motorcycling part i had taken the initiative to promote xBhp in my college. Went to our college Principal for taking the permission to put a few xBhp posters in the notice board and spreading the importance of safe biking. But i was refused the permission in moments and was suspended for a few days.

BTW the min i've paid is 10rs and max is 50rs. all for PUC and insurance and once for crossing the white line. Mind you....these are not fines
My college road is now 4 lane highway. Still it is risky but not as before.
And iam driving slowly these days.

Btw i dont have so good bargaining skills as u have.
