Caught!
I was caught today at chikka jala, airport road, finned for overspeeding, decided to make most of it. Uncleji was curious about bike, explained him about abs and ride by wire. In return, he explained how they catch speed violator. They have a normal camera at 2 locations in yelanka to airport stretch, whose feed can monitored from their interceptor van(They have cam at roof of interceptor vehicle too). They position interceptor anywhere between 1-2km from the cam. Watching cam feed they decide what vehicle to lock on.
Good way to avoid challan is to slow down when you see a cam fixed on pole. If you still get caught you can get a nice session of technology demonstration for 300bucks.
Towards airport:
Cam location: 100m ahead Decathlon anubhava, chikajala.
Interceptor location: 500m ahead.
Towards bengaluru:
Cam location: opp. Ambience restaurant, yelananka airforce base.
Interceptor location: on flyover after venkatala(before yelananka exit)

Re: Cops (& Interceptors) in Bangalore
Night riding in kolkata..... at about 70 on my p150 classic on the bypass coming back home after sitting with my mother in the hospital where she was admitted
Police here have white apaches...that look like old 180s but are actually 150s internally specially made for the kolkata police with lights, boxes , sirens and what not..
So 3 police officers , on the one bike (illegal)honk me from the back and I bring my speed down they ask me to pull over.... I ask why officer he says just pull over.... they all look red eyed as rajnikant and I know they are drunk as ****,,,, they dont even have helmets on... the road is deserted... I dont know why I say no... so a police man swings a laathi and hits my tank....shounts in bangla to stop.... scared as hell I accelerate as fast as I could... switch off my lights and just flee...... 100kmph comes up and they become a small dot behind me...
I get off the bypass take small lanes and reach home....
Wrong thread to be posting this but I did what I had to....
Saved, had nothing to say
I have had bad experiences with policeman but this just gives me a reason to hate them more.....

Re: Cops (& Interceptors) in Bangalore
Hmmm...fewer the obstacles, easier it is for the radar to get a lock. Probably that explains how speed guns on the relatively open Nandi road caught the guy @ 130kph (I presume it wasn't you, Adarsh!Originally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostMoreover, to get a proper lock, the road should be empty and no other vehicles around you.
) and it missed getting a lock on me on the relatively busier Hosur Road/Bellary Road stretches.
Aren't those radars supposed to have a very long range? They are designed to spot you before you spot them and usually get a lock on you from 200m. There's no way of knowing if you are "intercepted" and usually by the time you get to know, it's too late.Originally posted by nelson_sanjoy View PostHide behind a 4 wheeler tangentially if you know what I mean so that you are untraceable.

Hide behind a 4 wheeler tangentially if you know what I mean so that you are untraceable.
You wont believe - this happened opp. to EMC square couple of years back when I was overtaking a car at around 75-80. Since I was on the right hand side of the car (tangentially opp of the speed gun) with the car in between, I was not caught but the car was pulled over since it was on the middle lane.
But I wont advise this to anyone because this happened at an instant and I was unaware.

Re: Cops (& Interceptors) in Bangalore
Yes, the interceptor will surely have an upper limit but I remember a guy reporting he was caught at 130 or so on airport road (before nandi hills), so maybe they have better speed guns thereOriginally posted by bbsrailfan View PostPretty much consistent with my guess. So guess their devices are tuned to capture vehicles in the range of 60-110.
. Moreover, to get a proper lock, the road should be empty and no other vehicles around you.

Re: Cops (& Interceptors) in Bangalore
I was doing 110+ on a R15 and the topiwala anna didn't even try, while my friend on my fz was below 100 and was caught and showed a poser pic on the screen. So, I guess their lock-in is either capable of capturing only on those lesser speeds or they are tuned.

Hmmm... (clears throat).Originally posted by bbsrailfan View PostWill they struggle to get a lock/focus if a rider is above it's tuned speed range?
So you were doing 100+! Yes, an interceptor couldn't lock on the Busa I was riding pillion when we were doing 160+ at that time. So, there is a limit. I have been fined for doing 77 kmph near Nandi hills, but I guess 100+ would be too fast on their guns to be able to lock properly.

+1Originally posted by bbsrailfan View PostSome interesting observation here!
A few months ago, I was 'caught' overspeeding on a certain section of the EC Road. Not the elevated expressway, but the normal road underneath.
I'd rather not disclose my speed figures for the time being, but I was well above the imposed limits, when I spotted this interceptor parked innocuously. It was too late to brake anyway and as I passed the the vehicle, I could see from the corner of my eye that the camera/sensor thingy was turning after me. I had my hands on my brakes, ready for a cop jumping into my path, but none came my way. I expected cops at Bomannahalli jn or Madivala jn but none came my way. By then, I was almost sure that a love-letter would land at my home in a matter of days. None of that happened, and somehow I was off.
A very similar incident happened recently again on an stretch on airport road, when the interceptor tried hard to get a lock/focus on me but couldn't. That makes me ponder - are these interceptors/speed guns "tuned" for a particular range of speed? Will they struggle to get a lock/focus if a rider is above it's tuned speed range?
i have seen this happening few times. an r6 does not get caught but a r15v2 rider (@sachin from yrc) gets caught when he was doing 60 odd on the speedometer. and also few others. happened twice. he had thought it was 60 limit but came to know its 50kmph

Re: Cops (& Interceptors) in Bangalore
I am seeing Speed Interceptor at Babusapalya on ORR from past one week. They stand there on alternate days and are present at around ~5:15-5:30PM.

Re: Cops (& Interceptors) in Bangalore
I think cops have stereotyped opinions about bikers... Pulsars, RX100, Activa (nowadays) etc are highly targeted. Enfields on the other hand arn't.
I'd suggest keeping local police station numbers handy so as to give a complaint of harassment when wrongly charged or harassed.

Re: Cops (& Interceptors) in Bangalore
the so called speed limit is a big joke in india just like speed breakers. neither speed limit is sensible nor the speedbreakers do what they are supposed to do, they are vehicle breakers. lol. the speed limit sounds more like minimum speed limit :P
the road to airport has speed limit of 50 (i guess, not sure but its around that) on that road it should be actually minimum speed since its a highway. max should be 90kmph which is sensible and more then enough for smaller bikes and just enough for higher capacity bikes. when the police/govt cant control things they come up with these kinda cheap things called "limits". SUCKS.

This was enforced more than a year ago..
. Thanks for the input, bro!! No wonder, they stopped me a couple of times while doin' 55-58 km/h. Is this applicable to the confines of the city only or even on highway/open roads with higher speed limit??

Re: Cops (& Interceptors) in Bangalore
Exactly...!! Entire B'lore (entire India.. as in city limits, right??) has limit of 50 kmph.. & the limit matters only when you can see a white MPV with its boot opened with a camera looking at you.. Well I got the comfirmation from the cop itself months ago.. Just wanted to share the experienceOriginally posted by Adarsh_Bk View PostSpeed limit for two wheelers for entire Bangalore city is 50kmph!!
