Re: Bullet 350 Mods - - - Comprehensive guide ; uptade

Hello, I have recently acquired an AVL Thunderbird,2006 model & was planning on changing a few things in it. I came across a thread on an Electra being restored where they changed the cylinder head & bore to a twinspark-
I've copy pasted a section from that thread here:

So, below is the list of upgrades he has in his mind and has purchased some parts for the same.
1) Fuel sender in the tank + Fuel gauge in place of Ammeter
2) Tachometer in place of the ign switch
3) Twinspark in place of de-compressor + Machismo type De-comp if there is a need. His bike has a self start
4) Mudguards & seats of classic 350
5) Illuminated switch console of P-220 + BCU + Indicator cutoff with sensor + wiring
6) Complete painting + chrome + Aluminium buffing
7) BS29 CV carburetor
8) Oval resonator Classic style

I was wondering if the same sort of cylinder modification would be possible for an AVL engine if I fitted the carbureted twinspark head & bore. Would it work?? I was also thinking of installing a starter motor kit, K&N filter with a BS29 carb. Would like your views please.

Regards & thanks

Don't know about twinspark buddy but u can definitely fit a ci block and head. It may require modification to the conrod I guess becablock is a bit shorter. I wanted to do this on my 2003 thunderbird avl but sold and bought the new tb500, which i sold lately within 4months.
Another thing, my friend had done this twinspark mod on his ci engine and cv carb his bike was a thunderous beast and he had a wild boar exhaust
Now I am searching for my 2003 thunderbird avl again
what a bike
And you can definitely fit a startermotor. But it is prone to failure.

Re: Bullet 350 Mods - - - Comprehensive guide ; uptade

Hi, could anyone please tell me what type of paint is used on the current generation TB UCE's. I was thinking of powder coating my AVL engine flat black to obtain the same look until someone was nice enough to point out that it was a rather foolish idea once you consider the heat dissipation perspective of things. Something I had forgotten to think about.
Would be grateful if someone could also point out a seller in Chennai.

Warm Regards & thanks

I am looking for an answer and hope someone replies. Not sure, but this may have do with tunning or something.

lakkadghatm yes u can change ur silencer, yes there are loads of ready mad ones like goldstar, sans, wild boar, launcher etc. in Bangalore they would fix different silencers to help hear how it sounds and u can decide.
I changed mine before the second service and don't worry it would not void the warranty.

Thanks... Not sure in Mumbai but want which gives CI thumping but not hollow ... Ideally which you recommend... My mechanic recommend Gold star and I was proposing Indorie but not sure if it is hollow.

Try the wild boar or the launcher by Moto torque. Both of these have that thump which is bassy and not hollow.
But make sure which ever one u choose it has the jalli and glass wool.

alldwepak I changed to wild boar and it is awesome. Very silent when ideal but roars when speed is increased. Thanks for your opinion.[/IMG][/IMG]
