    Some tips to control hairfall

    1. Shave the head once or twice a year.
    2. Use mild shampoo for sensitive hair.
    3. Keep the hair short.
    4. Use hair oil before shampooing.
    5. Use a balaclava, bandana while wearing the helmet.
    6. Eat healthy food which contains vitamins.

Wearing helmet may partly contribute for hair loss.

I never touch my bike without a helmet. I'm riding for the past 7 years and of course there is mild hair loss for me. My roommate who is not having a bike had lost more hair than me. He travels mostly by bus and sometimes in my bike's pillion without a helmet.

Hairloss now-a-days depends on our lifestyle (as doctors say). It mainly depends on the food we eat, our sleep, nature of work, working in shifts etc.,.

Helmets alone cannot be blamed for hairloss. If helmets are the reason, then most of our bikers should be bald. That is not the case.... Just see Valentino Rossy's hair

        its a controversial topic
the main reason for hair loss is due to long periods of wearing a helmet which prevents the the sweat from evaporating and giving the scalp some headroom, hence leading to hair fall.
Because of this helmets have come with air vents etc to keep the air flowing.
now, wearing a balaclava or a bandana will again prevent the hair from air circulation and hair fall will continue..
this is what i think, any opinions?

Let me assure you my friend that helmets DO NOT CAUSE hair loss. The only living part of your hair is embedded inside your scalp called as the hair follicle. The black strands on your head are absolutely dead protein. The black hair on the head is as dead as your nail (same protein by the way - keratin). If helmets caused hair loss then gloves should have caused nail loss.

The most common cause of hair loss is:

Dandruff (more due to micro-localised fungal and bacterial infections rather than a dry scalp/ oiling wont help, anti dandruff shampoo will help a bit, anti dandruff lotion will help much much more - like stuff from himalaya or other pharma companies)

Vitamin deficiency (especially E,D & B complex - this will affect the general skin quality of your whole body, makes sense to eat over the counter vit supplements)

Genetic, if its in your genes you WILL go bald NO MATTER WHAT

The only way I can think of Helmets causing hair loss if they were dirty and harbouring dandruff causing fungus and bacteria then no matter how many times you clean your hair, these will start growing on your scalp and cause dandruff. So keep your helmet clean from the inside.

And as far as I can think wearing anything on your head actually prevents hair damage (again no effect on hair loss or gain, just effect on damage of existing hair).

            ^^ Agree.
Have been riding since 7 years and around 1.5 lakh kms. Never rode without helmet. My hairs are still the same. Rather hairfall can occur due to deposition of dust particles and exposure to too much pollution on roads.
But yes,If you think u r going bald, better keep the hair short. That simple. This much we can sacrifice for our bikin passion... isnt it??

Re: Hair Fall/Loss due to helmet

I don't think that hair loss problem could be caused by wearing a helmet. It could be due to bad food, lack of vitamins, inappropriate shampoo and many other reasons. A good hair care product can come in handy for those who want to reduce hair fall. Some hair masks contain vitamin complexes which can help to renew the hair structure and to make it stronger. Here is the guide on how to choose the appropriate one. Hope it will come in handy.
