Firstly relays have nothing to do with the battery. Relays are used to lessen the burden on the switch assembly. The contact points of the switch will be burnt soon if used without relays.Originally posted by neo88 View Postit will not harm the battery life but will drain off the battery bit faster. please give me your feedback after using it for a month. I am too thinking it to replace it without relay. I already have bulbs with me but would like to install after few feedback's. i will waiting for your feedback on two counts :
1. heat dissipated from the bulb, if it's damaging the reflector and the housing of the bulb
2. draining of battery / load on battery. ( Tips to check : Cold Start issues / Horns functioning properly when you switch on this bulb / check the LCD display )
What relays do ?
The headlight or horn or any other high wattage electrical components will be powered directly from battery via relay. The switch component will turn ON/OFF the relay. So ur switch will just take the load of relay, not the actual component.
I was using HID when I had my Unicorn and I am using HID after completing first service. I haven't faced any battery drain issues. (Touch-wood !!)
Point 1 - ZMR can take the load of 55/60w but not the 90/100w.
Point 2 - Reflector will melt if 90/100w used. For 55/60w it shouldn't be a problem if you don't use the lights when ur parking
Point 3 - Its always better to install relays. Its very easy to install and ofcourse cheaper than our expensive switch units.

Guys, this thread is only for first ride impressions. Lets not have someone wanting to see first ride impressions, having to read through all these discussion.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

i have been using it from last two weeks....run approx 20-22 KM in night daily...i think load is there on battery...as per the symptoms you have mentioned like horns...and LCD...
Facing a horns sound get low when a headlight is on...sometime it is working fine and sometimes very low...
In Start there is no issue...but yes, when i start feeling a LCD console little bit of Blink...which i think previously it was not...
I was thinking of putting this problems here in XBP but forgot it...and i should remove this now...what you say?Last edited by veryhiphop; 09-06-2010, 02:11 PM.

I think HID has a blaster and relay itself which does not take much of load...not sure..may be i am wrong..
