I just love to see COPS reactions, seeing a fully geared person riding.........
Although I did get pulled over twice, and I was luckily carrying my papers and PUC so was set free immediately.
The best incident ever happened was.....
1) At a Signal a Rickshawala asking me "BOSS garmi nahi hoti hai kya?"
2) At a tyre reparing shop, a guy standing who was getting his car tyre fixed. "Kya race hai kahan pe?" As in he thought that I just came from a race or something, then I had to narrate everything saying that I have been touring and wear the GEAR as a safety precaution, but some how he failed to realize and still had a BIG question mark on his face.

The only looks/comments i have got so far for my gear is that of respect, from the cops, from fellow road users. People here are genuinely interested in knowing more about the cool jacket/gloves that i sport around town

I really feel they do understand what its for.. at least i like to believe that way.. when some random girl @ CCD looks at me n smiles/giggles.. i like to look at the possibility that she found my gear sexy... (instead of thinking i was just made fun of..)
This is my way of staying happy / feeling good. I have been clicked pictures of astride my bike, fully geared by schoolkids / city/civic owners. And if ever some poor chap does get intimidated by my looks under the gear and wants to streetrace.. I am more than happy to help the poor chap EATT MYY DUSST!! (But thats only limited to traffic signal GPs
)
As yet, I have never been told that my gear was a waste of money by anyone (maybe partly because of my ride, partly because of the way I mostly ride.)
P.S.: I am only 4 months old in this gearing up business.. Earlier i also used to be one of those steel-headed titanium bodies Pune riders proudly riding my Caliber 115. But all that changed for good after i got to know about xbhp (in july) and got my new ride (the P220) in august. In the 5800km i currently have on my odo.. I have ridden a total of 12 km without a helmet on and I hated every bit of it(i.e. the 12km .. not the 5788
).

its not just people out on the streets, even my dad automatically assumed i was a certified maniac when i informed him i was saving for the next piece of my riding gear, the jacket. helmet and gloves got him thinking i was a disaster waiting to happen and that i was kitting up to make sure i can ride like a maniac !

It really pisse me off sometimes.....
I get these kinda stares at almost all the signal stops....
Some just stare and let go....
Some ask you what are wearing these for?
...
Some giggle in themselves thinking you are joker...
Some think you are a poser or some rich spoilt brat....
But one thing common in all these is that they are CONFUSED as to
how to react....
That's coz people are not used to seeing riders with protective gear
among them
They have only seen those on the Television or movies....
This is what i can summarise from my experiences...
But at the end of the day i know i m doing the right thing to protect
my a** and smile...
cheers...

You actually got that! That's outrageous ya. Sheesh. Thankfully I get very few of the wrong stares, or so i think.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostThey think we wear all that for racing, which is obviously not true.
The worst comment I received was (translated to English): Why is he showing off wearing all that when he is just riding an R15-by wearing all that it won't look like an R1!
BTW, I'm surprised they even know their R1s from the R15s.

@ken : rofl , u kidding right
Somehow , I never faced things like these .. or maybe I ignore them (such people) subconsciously.
Recently I know people stare at the shining chrome and say , "dude its a 500" . Thats all

Even i really dont know what people think in their heads...
Earlier i used to ride a HH Splendor...i used to wear a helmet, gloves and jacket... people used to give me looks like " Saala sports bike jaise jacket and all pehenta hai"
Now that i ride a Karizma ZMA....People find it justified....even though i ride my karizma slower than my splendor (as it is in Run In)
Safety is Safety according to me.....let it be a busa or a scooty... its better to be safe than be sorry...

Excactly !!!Originally posted by anirudh fz1 View Postdidnt know so many plp faced the same experience,if we only riding yamahas & p220s get stares imagine how it would be for a guy riding activa scooty & wears full racing gear, he wud become a real joker.
I ride new P180 with full sporty posture (100% inbuilt feature) & +99.99% get added due to my attitude cum my gloves, jacket, helmet etc.. sometimes it feel very good as people stare at you & mermarizing something in each other ears, but sometime you can judge looking there eyes that they mean nothing but just making fuss of you.. anyway.. i just relaxes & give another pose & buzz off quickly
.... its totaly depend person to person...

I have had my share of experience.
My friends says..why do you need the Cramster jacket while riding in a city..just wear a normal jacket...
Wearing a balaclava under the helmet makes people stare at me as if I am alien from another planet.
People often ask me about my knuckle protected gloves and when I tell dem the price... dey give me "Oh-what-an-idiot" kinda a look.
and at the lites....I just dont understand the pride these fellow bikers and activa walas get in overtaking me!!!!

Many a times while goin on a ride...funny incident too happen..like people wanting to take a snap with me and my bike.... cheering us on if we cross dem on the way... and shouting...."Go Go Go Go"Last edited by RoadZilla; 12-30-2009, 04:45 PM.

bro i have already given autographs to some school kidsOriginally posted by cicatrix View PostMay be its because you look SEXY in it and your irresistible to touch!
Why take it in a negative way guys? We are after all the trend setters and doing what is correct!
Just enjoy the celebrity status at the crossing and signals!
Still if you feel need to do some thing then next time someone gives you a cold stare just ask him does he needs autograph or is he just a gay ogler?

they stare at us just for one reason..
they rip/overtake/go crazy on seeing us just for one reason..
they ask the cost and sometimes touch and feel them just for one reason..
THEY THINK WE ARE PROFESSIONAL RACERS!!
that's true..

LOL Ken Da, It was really classic.
The basic Image of Bikers in India is responsible for this, Most of the people in India consider bikers as BAD boys, rich spoiled kids or people who have nothing to do.
Even when I ride with just my ProBikers Gloves, They look at me in amaze, look at my bike from all angles for modifications. Stand in FRONT of me at traffic signals, Some even start provocing me for a street races.
As most of them believe that either I am comming from a race or going to one
And this is the condition in Delhi, what would be situation in other smaller cities, I can just Imagine
