Wearing the right gear is just as important as having a properly serviced bike and knowing how to ride it.
Choosing what to wear when riding isn’t just about protection from injury, but also comfort. Properly fitting gear means you stay comfortable, warm and dry on your bike, helping you to fully enjoy your ride without getting distracted from the road.
never mind about ppl think about safety .

Most of them who gaze consider such outfit as a "SHOW OFF". I just ask, what is there to show off with safety gears? Don't they take an umbrella while it is raining? Don't they wear slippers/sandals to walk on the road? They need to think in those terms.

unlike us people, most just ride bikes just for the sake of it..
they don't drive a car as it would consume more fuel or just that they have to go daily.. they really don't care about their bike and don't have any love for it.. i have seen my friends don't even service their bikes for really long times.. and we can't expect such people to know the importance of riding gear..
i usually ride short city distances and were helmet and gloves.. and man, at the red lights, people stare first at the gloves and then at the face.. and i simply wave at them
and ride on..

I think there are some more factors then just psychological reason. Like when you are properly packed up there is less air hitting you directly and less wind noises due to less loose things waving in the air. Hence you feel you can go little extra fast.Originally posted by Mad Mik View Post

When I wear my riding gear I feel more confident Vs the teeshirt + shorts.

I usually ignore such topics with non bikers, cause thier questions / statements make my blood boil and I have no patience to explain stuff to them.
At office many colleagues ask me if am going to fight some battle. Few months back a kid from our building sarcastically asked me if iam feeling cold in the afternoon.
and a final killer statement by a female friend.
"All these guards on your body , it means you have no confidence in yourself"

The most common comment in my circle is "How the hell you cope-up with this heavy jacket in summers" and I show them the nets when they say this.

keep the school boy and his innocence aside, even grown up people have the same attitude. And especially in pune; tinted glass helmate attracts an attention and people stare at me as if i've come directly from the race track.
