Never knew Helmets had this kind of functional use as well. We need to reward him for such an innovation

I gifted my friend a helmet on his birthday( who has a Honda Dio and rides very rashly without any protection BTW), and he was like "I would have used it if I had a bike!!!".. Gave a slap on his head and told him to wear it all the time instead of a stupid cap..!!

in the quest of keeping the world happy. you wont be happy in the end. sometimes you would need to take a stand for the right thing and road safety is one of them.
they will eventually understand. nothing to go against anyone's parents but then all of us in india are ignorant of such things. gradually time will change..

You're right friend. Your post takes me back to my only big accident so far in 2005. I crashed head on into an auto because my father was convinced my bike didn't need new tyres just coz my mechanic said so. Needless to say I changed my tyres, my mechanic and my father's views on what is and isn't necessary. But the accident could have been avoided if I had new tyres (I mean I crashed at 45kmph which is pathetic). I will never get back those 2 months I spent in a hospital and my home nor my perfect riding record.
Sometimes you have to go against your parents wishes to ensure their happiness, its a fact of life.

All the planning went a waste

I won't do the same thing with my son/daughter in future.. I'll buy the best gear money can buy..

they are like "You've been going all this while fine, now what?? nothing will happen"

I said "Yes, by god's grace nothing happened till now, but let's be safe"

    "whatever, nothing will happen"

and I work the night shift.. come home early in the morning around 4.30 - 5.00 when drunk/sleepy/fast people drive crazy!!

    This makes me mad!!!

In India people think only about fashion, while wearing riding jacket or gloves people think that he is wearing it just to show off, sad point that maximum number of people do this with all their stuff whether it is their underwear or a car

PS - I don't mind looking good in safe way

Everyone says they'll be different from their parents but in the end we all eventually turn into our moms and dads. Our parents don't think about safe biking because that's bot even their primary concern. They are worried about our future and in their endeavour to secure our future they forget that we actually need to survive long enough to see our future.
Sit you parents down and talk to them about why you need this stuff. Maybe they'll understand.
I agree with you, you need to tell your parents they understand !

The day I was discussing the plan/budget for jacket with my Wife (Helmet and gloves bought), My grandmother was there listening to us.

And I was telling the difference between Spartan jackets costing 4400 and 6800. next day morning when I was leaving my house for office.

My grandmother got hold of me and said take this ATM and bring the best in this budget(10 K) your safety is important. and I was really delighted.

On the other hand my Mom was not very happy with me spending 8.5 k On Gloves and Helmet. and she wondered why I bought a balaclava costing 300 bugs.
