  • Which is the most youthful brand - Yamaha or Pulsar? Discuss and vote.

Although the poll question says it all but I will try to add some lines from my end to make it easier for everyone to decide and vote.

It goes without saying that for the last one decade, the contribution of the “Pulsar” brand has been enormous in bringing Sports motorcycling to current levels. In recent times the other brand which has had a big impact in more or less the similar way is “Yamaha”.

So what are we trying to find here? Actually when we make a purchase consciously or subconsciously we take a decision that how well the brand suits our personality and taste i.e “Brand Image” plays an important role in final decision making. So won’t it be interesting to see as an image which holds the position of “youthful brand” in our mind?

For example, I associate Luxury, Sporty and Prestige with brands such as Mercedes, BMW and Audi. Similarly others may have their own opinions for same even though we have never experienced these brands in person (Well atleast most of us)

One more thing in the poll I have added “Pulsar” as a brand and not Bajaj as we have always associated the name Pulsar with performance / sports motorcycling whereas in case of “Yamaha” it is a much bigger brand than say R-1-5 or FZ16.
    217
    Yamaha
    56.68%
    123
    Pulsar
    41.01%
    89
    Can't say, I'm undecided
    2.30%
    5

    The poll is expired.

Voted for Yamaha. No particular reason, just my perception of their products.

As much as I would have loved to say it is the YAMAHA, since the question pertains to "Which is the most youthful brand", it would undoubtedly be the Pulsar, between the two.

in the indian context its definitely Pulsar. i dont understand you distinguishing "pulsar" and "yamaha" which are product and company names resp. as a person who has interest in the department of marketing i would say your assumption is skewed.. it should be bajaj vs Yamaha (in INDIAN CONTEXT) cause whatever said and done a indian company cant compete with a internationally acclaimed one or it should be pulsar vs R15 or FZ16 (which should make it obvious that just with 2 bikes you cant call the brand "youthful") and even if your comparing companies everyone here i bet votes for yamaha simply cause of its INTERNATIONAL BRAND IMAGE rather than INDIAN BRAND IMAGE. Seriously Yamaha has been hopelessly been trying to ape bajaj and HH and honda and were till recently making less than 125cc bikes.. which were nothing but plain jane, which were not as efficient as HH or bajaj and even if every one bashes bajaj today who would even think of buying a yamaha before 2008 autoexpo? and not to bring out the point of service !! you might think this goes off topic but as i assume a brand is an experience, if you buy a benz you expect the experience of a king not a beggar. as for the people who vote for yamaha just because suddenly they came up with a idea which worked (once as of now) you cant call the brand "youthful".. while bajaj single handedly made every college student worth his age drool over the pulsar.. did anyone even utter yamaha?? i highly doubt that. my question where was yamaha then?? please dont talk about pre historic times of 2stroke or internationally..
          Regardless, Life shall go on.

Thanks to its successful (at that time) two stroke models.. Yamaha has always been associated with Performance (and therefore with Youthness) in India, even when the R15 and FZ/Fazer weren't there.

Therefore I believe that the "Yamaha" brand is definitely much bigger than the R15 or FZ brand.

But with the "Pulsar" its a different story... The "Bajaj" brand brings in mind different names like "Chetak" (Hamara Bajaj), the ubiquitous "Autorickshaws" and even "Bajaj electricals" and "Bajaj Amla Hair Oil" .

But utter the name "Pulsar" and nothing else comes to mind but a "Performance" oriented motorcycle made by an Indian bike maker.

Between "Pulsar" and "Yamaha" in India.. I'll pick "Pulsar" (I own one after all )

For me 'No' for "Yes Yamaha".

Pulsar is something which brought the competition to its knees and some are still trying to keep up. If it wasn't for the Pulsar we might still be 5 years behind from where we are now(In motorcycling perspective).

even i agree with this fact....

much before R15 or FZ series...we had RX 100,RX135,RD350 (ppl are willing to pay a hefty sum for a good condition model even today)...

Bajaj also made a name among youth...but it was only after the launch of pusar line-up......ok we can consider the model kawasaki enduro launched way back in '96...which cud not do well...

so among the choices given....its YAMAHA...

The first bike which made me drool was the classic CBZ. Then came the pulsar which just swept the competition off the floor, including me

But currently the drool machine among youths is the FZs and the Fazer. If it had been a comparison between Pulsar and Fazer as a Brand name, i would have picked Fazer, though i love the styling and hate the bike.

But for now, to be with the poll, i choose pulsar.

                          I vote for Yamaha.

When the biking image in India got boring with the same designs of pulsars and unis , TVS became the only other option.Even though Yamaha came to proper competition very late, they came back strong with FZ series and R15. The much needed change for every one in terms of new styling and performance was given by Yamaha.

If yamaha were to enter the segment at the right time, i doubt pulsars would have been here boasting about performance, styling and whatsoever they claim.

                          YES YAMAHA

Voted for Yamaha (although I drive a 125cc Bajaj )
But why I voted for Yamaha is also the same. Bajaj is my first bike bought by my own hard earned money, this is the perception many of day-to-day commuters have while going for their first bike. When it comes for VFM for commuting thing,Bajaj is good.
But when it comes to look, power and sports-biking, Yamaha is a clear winner for me.

                              my vote for yamaha.
Even if their service is bad then bajaj . the bike still performs
I own both Yamaha and bajaj . If bajaj parts quality would be good my vote would have gone for them . Hope bajaj improves on quality.
