If it would have been some other intl brand then it would have been a different story. Please dont say because of pulsar everything got changed. They just utilized the situation and gave us a good bike at lesser prices. I not saying its a bad product. But still i feel something is missing in there. Yamaha has always given us a product with rightful desire. Youth love style first, performance next mileage last.
i would like to ask you something... where was yamaha between RX100s and R15s? almost 10years went by with no one giving it a second glance.. did you my dear friend own a yamaha in that period? if yes i guess your right.. if not then its just a mix of hangover from RX era and the new fetish for R15 and FZ16 !

Stick to the topic please 'Youthfull brands'... Flaimbaiting will not help...

am sure MG has a nice reason for starting this poll!

PS: I drool over a Bugati, I dont own one and cant own one for now as well... does that make it a poor brand?

I voted for yamaha...When you hear the name bajaj, the only youth product which strikes our mind is the pulsar range(count in the disco if you feel)...True,it has made power biking more affordable to the masses but I don't exactly think the word youthful suits it...You have the RX,RD,RX-Z,R15,fazers etc which every youngster dreams of owning and do eventually, given a chance. So,it's yes yamaha all the way from my side
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

Ouch.... that's one hell of a burning Poll!!

Even though the fact is that Yamaha brought the mighty R1 to India which is like the King on the road....

But at the same time, I own a Pulsar 200 and I know it's the best in it's class!!

But as the many have suggested previously... that it's the might of the Pulsars which has over shadowed the brand Bajaj that the poll is a comparison between Pulsars and the International giant and MotoGP champions Yamaha, I vote for Pulsars because if it was not for Pulsars, soon we were about to consider Hero Honda Splendor as the ultimate performance machines that the common man can afford!!
Twist your wrist and feel the shift!!

            My own thoughts - Throttle

if you say so, then the poll is wrong cause its like comparing a benz to a maruti !

why compare a product with a company ........

if its yamaha v/s bajaj then no doubt yamaha wins....... with so many products(do I need to mention )....... but when it comes to India, where are the products(oh we have all above 10lacs)....... why dont yamaha bring something good(except r15 in recent years)....... where was it........ ok hibernation ........ bajaj tried(failed many times) and now we have a decent 250cc(which is best in every sense in its class)....... so in India bajaj wins.......

if pulsar v/s yamaha........ no comments........

I don't like to compare nano with honda or 5800 with iphone or 1000d with nikon ........

if its youthful brand in India then pulsar wins.......

interesting responses... But to understand the answer or to actually take an opinion, you need to go into the market and ask people...

I remember talking to boys/guys in the age group of 16-23 in delhi. their actual view of a bike is it should be a pulsar, discover is for those who cant afford it , and karizma in yellow because it looked like the dhoom bike ( the yellow bandit). Then there was hayabusa and nothing in between.

Pulsar has grown to be a brand that FZ is catching up on now. though they have caught on in the last year or so since the launch of the FZ, that everyone is clamouring to buy a fazer or FZ-S. Before that it used to be pulsar..

I know people and im sure many of you will be here, who migrated from the first pulsar to the first spoked dtsi, then to the alloy dtsi and then eventually to the current pulsar that you own.

The pulsar is to india now what the RX100 was back then. please understand that ( i know i have, the hard way, no offence to pulsar owners please). And im not comparing bikes. only market sentiment and value.

After the launch of the CBZ/Fiero and the death of the 2-strokes, the pulsar twins 150/180 were the first bikes to capture the sentiment of the masses, and provided power and excitement cheaper than the competition. And they continued to do that, giving more features and modifications than the competition could ever catch up with.

Bajaj started the trend of digital meters, front disc std, electric start being a regular, LED tail lamps and what not.

Yes the designs are same for all the pulsars, there is no difference between the 150 and the 220s bum... But look at it from the owners point of view. He owns a bike ( 150) that with a replacement of the rear seat handle ( 500 bucks tops! ), looks just like the most expensive model of the company, from the back.

Indians die on looks more than anything. they will sticker and paint a CD100 too if they could.. and they do. Add good mileage, pricing, performance.. they are sold.

My vote is for bajaj, for reading the market well, and capturing the attention of the youth.. that from anyone between 18 till 40 who rides a bike.. would like pulsar.

My offerings to the gods of speed -

                    - KTM Duke 200
                    - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

Considering the figures from this decade and the evolution of the bikes .. then i wud rate Bajaj more coz in terms of introducing new technology during that phase of biking scenario was tremendous.

Where as if we see from Yamaha has come into the market just recently with their new bikes viz. R15/Fazer/Fz/FZ-S/etc.

Pulsar all the way or even I would vote for TVS and HH as well if they were in poll. My Vote Is just for the effort that these companies took in order to provide us the glimpse of Performance Biking at the time when we were surrounded by the 100ccs and Scooters.

At least our Indian companies made Yam to take Indian Market seriously. Otherwise we would be riding the likes of Libero, Jessica Alba

Ok.. Good one MG. Well if I were to comment on this.. I would firstly think that why Yamaha vs. Pulsar. It has been well highlighted by most people here that name "YAMAHA" is synonymous with performance.. (not that much with looks from the indian context, but which actually is).. but same with Brand "PULSAR", its synonymous with performance too.

The penetration of the brand "PULSAR" is way more deeper in India than the brand "FZ".. or "R15". And i am talking about overall penetration taking into picture 65-70% population which resides in villages and small towns. Most people can still recognize RX100 in small towns.. but FZ & R15.. its difficult. But its improving at much faster pace than even the Pulsars.

My observation "PULSAR" does not only mean Performance.. but it means "Performance at low cost" (read maintainance). And most people would agree here that when it comes to Low Cost Components, no one can beat Bajaj. Thats what it makes "PULSAR" more lucrative. Despite of being biggest brand when it comes to Performance biking in India (biggest in terms of followers), "PULSAR" is the most abused and misused bike in India. The expectation of people from the "Pulsar" bike is so huge that, it ends us getting abused.

PULSARs are most popular with Stunters.. Why.. its balanced, fit for stunting.. gives you an adrenalin rush... great initial grunt.. fand who does the Stunts "YOUTH". Name a single stunter who has not performed stunts on Pulsar in India? And what makes Pulsar more suitable for stunting is -- Again the low cost components. Read - frequent parts replacement.

Ok.. "YAMAHA". A brand which was on the verge of dying in India, revived by R15 & FZ. World class bikes at relatively High Cost in Indian context (look at FAZER... overprieced anytime). A brand which was so once Youthful that people still miss the RDs and RX.

But somewhere Yamaha as a company couldnt read Indian market, which finally bajaj did. Bajaj captured the imagination of Youth over the period of time and Yamaha just Mimicked it in India in last 1-2 years. Lot of customers of current Yamaha are previous Bajaj owners.

Where Bajaj studied the Indian market.. Yamaha studied the market of "PULSAR". This itself tells, which is a bigger brand. The "PULSAR".

Due to opening up of economy, Yamaha has finally started tasting success. And Yamaha is able to sell its expensive products. And long forgotten brand is catching up fast.

But anytime .. my vote is "PULSAR". I own two of them.

But why I voted for Yamaha is also the same. Bajaj is my first bike bought by my own hard earned money, this is the perception many of day-to-day commuters have while going for their first bike. When it comes for VFM for commuting thing,Bajaj is good.
But when it comes to look, power and sports-biking, Yamaha is a clear winner for me.
its pulsar vs yamaha.. not bajaj prateek.

My vote is for pulsar / bajaj.
Ofcourse, yamaha gives you international product here but its the bajaj who actually knows what the young indian wants.
Yamaha is doing bike manufacturing for many years but its the bajaj who started manufacturing bikes very recently and is competing with the international brands. Every product release there we can see some improvement and I likes that.
Pulsar is superbly styled (say p200) with a good price stag and performance on the other hand R15 is too pricey...FZ is too vulgur (for my taste). Ofcourse, R15 is a great handing, best engined bike but....

Your Brain may go for the Yamaha ...but its
Your Heart that will go for the Pulsar / Bajaj
